Just replaced a cracked taillight with another taillight assembly both have the radar unit. The new taillight now is sending the Blind Spot System Fault message. Looks like I have two options…go to dealer to reprogram or replace the radar unit for the original. The question I have is will the original radar unit need to reprogram also?

Oh man, it seems our trucks are smarter than we are. I‘d be interested in learning why the VINs might have to match - technology, huh?

Is this a replacement taillight assembly from a bone yard?

Try leaving the battery disconnected for at least 30 minutes . Mine had this and a couple other faults when I got the truck back from the body shop and they had disconnected a tail light . After leaving the battery negative terminal disconnected for 30 minutes it has been fine since .

Hi, AzScorpion I disconnected the negative cable to the battery for at least 30 minutes. Turned the engine on and got the same message. looks like my next option is plan B... remove the original radar unit from the broken taillight and put it in the boneyard taillight, Apparently, the radar unit is linked to the Ranger. Attached is a message I got on my phone Ford Car Play app.

Can ForScan help you to sync them up?

Naw, nothing there to change. It’s a dealer only adjustment. Pat their heads and rub their bellies while doing the pairings
It can't be that simple. I'm sure they have to hold their tongue right too.

Attaching VIN to a $750 tail light assembly may be an effort to reduce theft.
You might want to up that price by $200. The twilight is secured by the lockable tailgate.

I replaced a tail light & re-used my original blind spot unit & had no errors. If you haven't tried to swap them it might be worth a try.
Yup, that was my plan B option. I'll try the swap out tomorrow and post the results.

UPDATE.... today I removed the Blind Spot Radar from the boneyard taillight and installed the Radar unit from the original but cracked taillight. It works perfectly without a warning and showed the yellow dot when a car was in the blind spot. This tells me that a working Radar unit has been linked via a computer to the Rangers.
