Looks like you made the right choice. Did you see the newest one on B6G. Blown 2.7 v6 with under 1,000 miles on it. This is the second one I've seen like this. No excuses as this motor has been out for a long time now.

That's terrible. I don't go on it anymore because it just made me regret cancelling when I know it's the best for my situation. I heard a while ago someone's 2.7 locked up. I spent hours on that forum before I canceled my reservation. It was a great way to get information since I am new to off roading.

I'll go on there just to scan through the new threads, I was on there more often when I first placed my order. I saw that one too when he was just driving normal (like this one) and it just died on him. They dropped the pan and found a bunch of metal shavings in the oil. I wouldn't regret it at in fact I'd be even more happy you're not having to deal with any of these problems. I think it's more disheartening when you get your hopes up for something like this and it's such a letdown.

Ford told everyone with hard tops to order a soft tops if they want theirs sooner. A lot did this but some like myself don't like the soft top. Plus there's no option for a soft top on the 2 dr models.

With the size of them it would get really expensive to ship hundreds if not thousands of these to dealers all across the country. They had somewhere between 5K-8K sitting in large dirt lots for months waiting for these new tops (some were waiting for chips) and most have finally been shipped out. Now this happens all over again in the matter of days. Seems like the Bronco is cursed.

Reading that thread and a couple of others, it seems as though they've turn on themselves. It's like "Lord of the Flies, Bronco Bay."
In addition to Dave's answer IIRC there is no factory soft top for the 2 door Broncos. Had I converted my reservation into an order I was getting a 2 door.

I would have been fine with them delivering it topless, but I doubt they would have. I planned to run a bikini top only 90% of the time like my Jeep, and the rig would've been garaged. Many, or most, customers probably wouldn't be down for that though, and it might open Ford to some liability.

Lol No, I couldn't bring myself to deface my Jeep like that.

I agree it's sad that this whole launch was such a mess. We were all excited for this after a 25 year hiatus and all these issues has taken the joy out of it for me. Are you still holding on to your reservation? I'm keeping mine for now just to see what happens in the coming years. I highly doubt Ford will price protect it that long, right now it's until '23. Once they take that away I'll cancel mine.
I understand totally your jumping ship. But I am wondering what the motivation is to sell or trade your Ranger for an SUV; any brand?

I don't recall if it was you or someone else speculating that someone or group is deliberately sabotaging MIC top production, but it actually might be something Ford is actively investigating. The only other possibilities I can think of are that the processes and materials used on Jeep tops is patented and can't be used elsewhere, or the company that deleted two cargo hooks on Rangers for cost savings cheaped out on specs for either material and/or process(es) for the MIC tops, and now they and Webasto are stuck with a factory full of capital equipment that can only produce substandard product.

Chris you might be right about Jeep having a patent on theirs. I joked several time that it seems like someone is deliberately sabotaging them but now that Ford has taken over the tops I doubt it.

I'm keeping my Ranger, I was all along even if I had got there Bronco. I'll see how things go with it (Jeep) and make a decision later down the road. Besides with my gf here now it's a good idea to have another vehicle here for the times I'm at work. Her car is still back in Chicago and her daughters using it for now.

Consumer Reports has bad-mouthed the Wrangler for as long as I remember. If everything they say was true, why does the Wrangler sell so well?
People like to bad-mouth Consumer Reports when they disagree with their conclusions. I like CR, and have been (but am currently not) a member. Their product evaluations, like any other, must be taken in context. They are fairly narrowly focused on safety and value for on-road use. My favorite CR statistics for the Wrangler are that reliability is statistically much worse than average, and that 85% of owners say that they would buy another one. It doesn't take much reading between the lines to see that owners are more interested in attributes other than reliability. That's not a good fit for CR, because they aren't really interested in how much fun it is to own, or the intangible value of the enormous and rabidly-loyal owner community. I was shocked when they recommended the BMW X5 (a notorious money pit) as a good buy, based mostly on its state-of-the-art suite of electronic driver safety systems. If anything, the X5 will probably be less reliable over time than a Wrangler, and much more expensive to own when the warranty expires. For CR's results to be useful, you need to interpret them in your own usage context.

Can you give us a coles note version? Thats a long video with shitty video work.
Yes it was a hard watch for sure. If you mean Cliff Notes, which we call them in the US, then absolutely:

1) guy gets a 4XE Rubicon hoping to enjoy it on some trails.
2) Said 4XE Rubicon stops working, begins working again, then ceases to work for the entirety.
3) 4XE gets strapped off the trail by another new Jeep which overheats while pulling it (I think..)
4) No one in the video knows what happened or why.
5) At least there was a sick ass Ranger on hand to ensure everyone go home safely lol.
