I am amazed how clean the underside of your Everest looks like. How old is it? There's absolutely no rust (not that I would wish you'd have). Also it seems you are using some sort of dressing for the underside ... what is it?
Just a general observation: I noticed that the Everest is using the singe bolt lower shock mount, like the non USDM Rangers ... interesting. My Ranger has the same type of mount. Maybe the Everests are universal built, not like the Ranger that gets nice features in US only.
Yes, the bonnet is the same as in the non USDM Rangers as well, the headlights too .
Also, I am very curious to know what that small "stabilizer" bar bolted on the UCA does. It looks to be connected to some sort of an electric engine ... maybe a sort of an active dampening?

Just joined the forum, so while I didn’t actually do this today….it is the most recent thing I’ve done to my Ranger.

Quick backstory first: I’ve had my truck about two months now. There aren’t a lot of Rangers floating around our small coastal town, so I’ve been getting a ton of comments and questions at the pumps, car wash, grocery store etc.

Funny thing is that one of the most frequently asked questions tends to be “Is it 4-wheel drive?”.

Lol, maybe it’s the 20” wheels that throw people off? A few quick pics for reference:

Anyway, I finally decided to put the question to bed and ordered a “4x4” emblem for the tailgate. “Installed” it late last week:



Another question I get asked is “Who makes that truck?”. It just dawned on me yesterday that the only “Ford” logo visible on the outside is the blue oval on the tailgate….so the question finally makes sense. Problem now is trying to decide if I should add “Ford” to the front somewhere, maybe on the sides…..?

Ugh. First world problems just suck.

Thanks, Duke….and no worries bringing it up, I’m happy to answer any questions. They’re not the original wheels.

I knew when I purchased the truck I was gonna swap the wheels out. Nothing against the Roush wheels, they just weren’t quite my style. The Roush fender flares are quite large and I wanted to bring the wheels out to align with the top portion of the flare. Also wanted a slightly more aggressive stance.

While probably not a popular option, I also like the look of 20’s for the size of these rangers….so I went with a 20x9 Fuel Siege and 285/55r20 Nitto RGs.

Lol, probably sounds crazy to ditch the Roush wheels that came at a premium, but it was the only way to achieve the stance and overall look that I had in mind for the truck from day one. Well, maybe not the only way….but it was the quickest way, and I tend to run short on patience, lol.

What’s the old saying….a fool and his money are soon parted? Lol, let’s just say I’m a happy fool.

Well, the truck won today…

I had some free time on my hands. I thought it would be an ideal time to get my Diode Dnamics lights installed. I made an aluminum bracket to mount the lights to and still clear the ACC radar. I broke a drill bit, a tap, and a bolt getting this installed. I can say I am now pretty handy unthreading things, a 1/4 turn at a time, with vice grips. Now these issues are corrected, I am very happy with the bracket. I did think ahead and drilled holes for two sets of lights, should I decide to add more.

Then it came time to install the lights. Getting the bolt up through the hole was not terrible. Getting the flat washer, split washer, and nut on, blind, was challenging. The good news is, every time I dropped a piece of hardware, it landed safely on a plastic lip along the opening in the bumper. The bad news is, stainless steel hardware is not magnetic enough to be retrieved with a magnet. So, I had to pull down the plastic lip, and reaching in from behind, and kind of, ahem, finger the truck. No lost hardware!
Now, the lights are and and I’m ready to some how squeeze a socket up inside the bumper to tighten things up. Nope, not happening. The metal on the bracket is so thin, the shoulder on the included carriage bolt protrudes though. This means the bracket doesn’t adequately tighten against whatever surface you are mounting it to.
Out with the lights. Time to break out the Dremel and trim this back a bit.

Window of opportunity closed for the day. Back at it tomorrow.
