Not sure if this has been talked about before but is it common on here to remove the plastic trim under the bumper in front of the wheels? Is there any negative affect to this?

I pulled mine off. Gives it a slightly better approach for off-road adventure. Will probably not impact gas mileage too much, but could. I think their main purpose (based on the name "gravel deflector") is to keep gravel and other debris out of the brakes/lines/etc.

Folks on here have done it - get out your 10mm socket - it can be done easily - you may have to search around corners for the end bolts but it‘s simple enough. You might find instructions with the search function.

Good luck.

Retired, work is a four letter word.
I had them off when I installed the tow bar adapters, no big deal, just 2 bolts and a snap clip if I remember, one bolt hidden behind the inside fender cover.

And keeping the brakes line and brakes from getting hit with gravel and other debris is a bad thing????

I never noticed this, so went out to check my 2021 Ranger XLT. Mine isn't like in OP's pic, mine is the full width. Was that something they only did on the 2019?

Hi Folks,

This is a classic example of fixing a problem that cropped up during development and the guard serves a purpose.... I recommend you leave this guard in place...

best,
Phil

It looks like OP has the FX4 bash plate.

I'm pretty sure it's different on trucks that don't have the bash plate.

Here's a pic of a non-FX4 Ranger and it has the full width guard.

Hi Folks,

I have exactly what the OP has on his vehicle....it is so low as to be hard to see unless you step back... If you lifted the front, then it becomes more visible...

Best,
Phil
