This is very cool. This was back in the day when Ford did EVERYTHING (including having their own hospital!!!)

It’s so great to see those images and to see how innovative Ford was back then. Ford’s impact on manufacturing is the ultimate case study. Also great to see a post from Phil - thanks for sharing this.

Hi Phil,
The last postcard has been displayed as a black and white mural in the waiting area at my local Ford dealership. I remember reading an anecdote attributed to either Henry Ford II Or maybe Bob McNamara. During an on-site TV news piece, the reporter and Mr. Ford were standing outside of the River Rouge plant, and the reporter was getting the hurry up signal from his producer. With the plant as a backdrop he turned to Mr. Ford and said, “Quickly Mr. Ford we have only 15 seconds- how does this plant operate?” Mr. Ford thought for a few seconds and then, pointing at one end of the building, replied “We dump iron in that door…” and then pointed over at the extreme other end of the building, “… and drive Fords out that door…”

History and remembrance of the old ways is so important. As a kid there was a wool nubbing mill that was powered by the Charles River. All leather belt driven and thick oak floors. It really made an impression on me. Thanks so much @P. A. Schilke for posting this. Made my day‼
