I just went out and checked the air pressure in my tires ahead of a trip I've got coming up and I saw these cracks in the tread. The cracking is kind of uniform throughout al of the tread and tires. Sidewalls look good. Stock Duratrac FX4 tires.

How many miles? Are you towing? Heavily loaded? If not towing anything I'd keep an eye on it and solve the problem when back from the trip. But that's me... and I carry a second spare on road trips.

Not lowing. Just me, my luggage, my usual truck load (roof top tent, recovery gear). About 900 miles each way!

Asking that question is like asking a doctor to confirm a given activity is "safe" despite xxxx condition.

No doctor would say yes, due to liability issues. If anyone was forced to answer if your tires are still safe, you'd likely get the same type of response.

That being said, what members of this forum could accurately tell you is what they might do, given the same situation.

For me, I would say you are probably ok for your trip, but your wear bars indicate those tires are worn out and it is time to replace anyway. I would just go ahead and get them replaced before your trip to be safe. With the temperature what it is, there is an increased risk of a blowout or other issues.

You might be able to score some memorial day savings still, ymmv on that one though.

Enjoy your trip.

The only answer anyone here should be giving is "no" because if they say yes and something happens, you get to sue them. The real answer is this is a bad place to ask this question... sorry.

You can get a set of wheels + tires for the cost of tires so might as well get a second set.

Your knowledge of the law is severely lacking if you think anybody would have grounds to sue after following the bad advice of anonymous internet forum members.

OP, you're leveled right? Tires are gonna need to go soon. If you can swing it I'd do it now and upgrade in size while you're at it.

If a major purchase like this would make your trip less enjoyable, I'd put it off till later in the summer.

I'd put these in my "watch carefully, needs addressed soon" basket.

Cost isn't an issue. Timing is. I leave at 3 am Thursday morning. I just checked around and can't get an appointment until the 5th.

Hopefully you're right! (Also, anonymity is not promised or provided by any internet forum.)

I wouldn't worry about it. They don't look very deep.
