For the record, I aslo do not endorse towing that fast and way over weight... But it is very interesting and reassuring to know the Ranger can do it in a pinch.
I tow my 4,000lbs camper at 65mph on CO and WY interstates with 85 speed limit. I rarely reach 70, typically only if needed to pass a...
I drive the same roads in Colorado where the TFL tests and I routinely get better than 25MPG highway. It is not rare to get 27MPG if take it easy on the right foot...
I also love my blue sumo springs (no spacer rings installed, stock FX4 shocks). I feel the sumos firm up the back end and really control bouncing. Towed beautifully 10,000 miles this past summer from CO to AK and back. 4,000 lbs camper in the picture, ~580 lb tongue, and Andersen hitch (amazing...
The specs I had seen from Ford was 18.0 Gallons.

The furthest I ever went was also 5 miles to empty while towing, then I chickened out and filled up... 18.51 gallons went in the tank that day, so more than the specs say about the max volume. But I think you should keep on truckin and tell us what happened.
I just got back home to Colorado. This will I will post my full fuel use date. I took the Alcan (Dawson Creek to Whitehorse segment) both on the way north and on the way south. North from Whitehorse I went through the Top-of-the-world out of Dawson City. I took the Alcan south to Haines...
You are spot on. I live in Colorado also, regularly tow a 4500 lb loaded travel trailer through the mountains over there, but right now, I am in Alaska with my Ranger and camper. That's right - Alaska! 5,000 miles towing so far this trip and doing extremely well. I will post a towing report for...
Just another point to consider about the size of the WD hitch and bars. While WD hitches rated for 8k or even 10K might work for your small trailer when properly adjusted, their bars are much heavier than say a pair of 6K or the 4.5K bars that I use to tow my ~4K lbs camper. Using far over-spec...
Thanks for the thorough towing report! I have very similar experience towing a slightly lighter and smaller twin axle camper. I suspected my Ranger could comfortably tow a larger unit, and your Lance is exactly the model I would upgrade to if I decided to go bigger. It is reassuring to know that...
Just returned from a nice camping trip from the CO front range to Aspen CO. Ranger towed my 4000 lb loaded camper beautifully through I70 west and eastbound (see my icon pic and other posts for details). Yesterday return trip included a TFL benchmark 8 minute run up the Ike Gauntlet (at 5.7 MPG...
I had the logger installed in my Ranger yesterday - so far so good. I was worried about loosing functionality of my OBD2 port since I have a ScanGaugeII constantly connected, but the device also has a splitter cable, so that was not a problem. ScanGaugeII still works fine.
I have no problem with...
I agree - My Hankook AT/Ms (less than 8,000 miles on them) are looking exactly like that. If we can find more owners with the same issue (please post your pics) we may be able to make a stronger case for replacements.
I am also noticing the same rapid discoloration in my Hankook 18'' tires that came with my 2020 FX4 Lariat. Do other people also have this happening? Is this issue common for other white lettering tires, or is it some sort of manufacturing defect in the Hankooks? Since it is only a cosmetic...
Hello – I’ve learned a lot from others here about their experiences towing travel trailers with their Rangers, so I thought I would return the favor and report on a recent long trip I just completed.
In total for this trip, I towed my 21ft long, 7.5ft wide, 10ft tall, 4500lb travel trailer for...
Are these really Duratracs? The sidewall looks like that of Hankook Dynapro ATMs, which are the tires that came stock in my 2020 FX4.
How many miles do you have on them?
