A little bit of porting and polishing on the old intake scoop. Might try to take a little more off when I have time.
Just buy a big red one.

Have you noticed any difference after installing? Iād find it hard to imagine any gain when the intake tube is still the same size. Looks cool thoughJust buy a big red one.

Mishimoto actually has made a intake for the ranger now. Even has a molded setup that replaces the OEM ram air and gives a pretty clean look. No fancy red filter visible though, but might be something people are interested in if they want a more clean look. The people who decry the CAI are usually the same ones who actively hate on the tailgate damper (true fact).
Go read Mishimoto's R&D blog (below) on their findings around the stock air intake, and make a decision for yourself thereafter.

And before the cynics chime in, yes I know Mishimoto has a vested interest finding ways to gain performance from an upgraded intake (so they can sell the sh*t out of it), but there is plenty of objective data in the blog to make up your own mind.
https://fb.watch/qgA78zfnBl/ and they can really bugger up your MAPTThey are all a waste of money IMO.
VERY little gain, most likely none.
The are good for letting more particulates into your engine.
Exhaust and/or tune are far better investments.
Hell, the the price of some of those you can get a tune and see real gains in TQ/HP.
LOL, I bought that same AFE to match the Tremor hot side battery cover and accents. They all terminate at the same intel point on the Air box though. Who knows. I know it looks cool so I shilled the cash for it.Just buy a big red one.
What does that mean? What is a āMAPTā?https://fb.watch/qgA78zfnBl/ and they can really bugger up your MAPT

The Mishimoto is a perfect example of putting overengineering on Meth. Yeah it is better, but barely made an impact with a 93 tune. Get one, have fun, and enjoy. But the price tag is ugly. For that extra $500 (93 tuned) you could run water/meth injection and guarantee colder IAT's and more HP. I mean a lot. E30 level "a lot". Just pissing glorified washer fluid gets better results. I don't want to knock all this bc I too got a CAI. I just bought the best for the price differential. It also is more fun driving when everyone else hears you having more fun driving. hehe!!The people who decry the CAI are usually the same ones who actively hate on the tailgate damper (true fact).

Do I? Am I missing something? Honestly I stopped watching the video when I realized it meant nothing to the topic but I must know what a MAPT is!You know what he means

That was my guess too but I try not to assume.
You're a much more accomplished Motorhead than I'll ever be, but I'm pretty sure he's trying to refer to the mass airflow sensor
Where everyone comes up with these acronyms, the world may never know...
I am pretty sure the Ranger uses a Manifold Absolute Pressure and Temperature (MAPT) sensor.

Yes, itās got one in the intercooler on the cold side. Another in the manifold. Itās got to get over 109 degrees before the ecu starts cutting power.I am pretty sure the Ranger uses a Manifold Absolute Pressure and Temperature (MAPT) sensor.
