I'm about to order one of these from Stage 3 but wondering about checking/cleaning/changing the filter... Do you have to disassemble the thing to get at it? Most others you can just remove the cover.
This doesn't change the filter configuration at all.

Thanks. I should have gone back to the original thread or been more specific. I meant the aFe airbox itself, not the scoop and I found my answer: It is necessary to disassemble the airbox to check/change/clean the filter.
Kinda inconvenient but not a dealbreaker.

Other than the two screws on top, how do you get the stock intake out of the box?

I used a small piece of wood and a hammer. Gave it a tap out from the inside of the air box. Just pops out. AFE on mine was a little sloppy on the fit so used some HVAC tape and sealed it up

Is there a reason (other than plug and play) AFe didn't make one of these with an increased airbox connection? I would gladly cut the lower air box to fit a bigger inlet mouth.

Probably for the fact that they weren't thinking about it at the time
