I JUST DID A 1000 KM HIGHWAY TRIP IN MY 2019 RANGER. I AVERAGED 130 KM/H BUT STILL ONLY USED 9.6 LITRES PER 100 KMS WHICH WORKS OUT TO 29 MPG USING 91 OCTANE. I'M PRETTY HAPPY WITH THAT. SO FAR IT'S BEEN A SOLID UNIT.. BARELY BROKEN IN WITH 48,000 KMS ON THE ODOMETER
To start you don't need the caps on. Second I was referring to the Tundra with what you were quoting, not the Ranger. I'm already aware of how well the Ranger can do with a Diesel vs the Gas.

As we all know the storage under the rear seats are a bit lacking. Don't believe me? Then ask yourself why Ford didn't do anything like this? Mind you this is in the Nissan Frontier!!

Id rather have that 60/40 split than slightly more storage.

Personally I haven’t. I have had the bottoms off for a while though so it’s possible I’ve gotten used to it. Just so I understand, are you saying you leave the seat backs on as well, as that’s what I do.
Yes, bottoms off, seat backs are still on. I mostly camp solo with this truck and need all the space possible. I took driver’s side off, saw the giant vent and stopped there. One drive showed the noise is too much to take, so I put it back on. Not sure if the vents are on both sides but probably so. My plan is to eventually cover with wood, but the noise issue will make it challenging.

yeah I thought about taking backs off but I saw on here people have and was worried about vents behind it. There are quite a few threads on here with people coming up with different solutions to cover the vents but still have airflow. The vents are on both sides. Ford sells the part to cover them that you can order (the part would be installed if you selected rear seat delete on xl trim) but I think it’s like 300 bucks. It may be one of those things where it may be worth buying for yourself if you want a factory look.

Corporate drone. Dilbert's world is alive & well.
Yeah, the Ridgeline has a nice system, too. Just sayin'...
That's not a "system!" It's a f'ing trunk! Freaking Accord without a trunk lid. Truck?! Yea right.

Man I can't believe people buy those damn things.

Yea, I hate them. Sorry. True feelings slipped out there.

The underseat area (a pain point for me) is sheet metal because Ford chose to use that as an opportunity to stiffen the chassis. It would have been MUCH cheaper for them to flatten it out and then stick a plastic tray in there. But - alas, like you, I loathe the under seat capacity area for storage.

I have had two Frontiers. They were good trucks but I will take my Ranger over them both everyday of the week and twice on Sunday!

I have trays under my rear seat, but they will probably going to sub woofers soon?
I also have a very nice tool box in the bed for recovery stuff and tools which negates the need of storing under the rear seats. I actually find I store more stuff under the front seats.

The underseat storage is a terrible waste of space. If you remove the plastic buckets you can see tons of empty, inaccessible space. They should have put the front of the rear seats on pillars with slide out drawers between the pillars. Would have saved some weight too.

Agree, I would just like to know what has Ford hidden under there that takes up so much room

You don't want to seal the area up too tightly, the vents are there to exhaust the cab air displaced when the airbags detonate. Without the venting, the airbags may not fully deploy because of the increased cabin air pressure, and/or blow your eardrums and windshield out. More than half the cabin air space is displaced in a fraction of a second if all the airbags blow; steering wheel, dashboard, seat bolsters, side curtains.

I had never thought of that, it makes perfect sense though.
