Way back in the day when I lived in Hawaii all we had were the cardboard ones. I always got a carpeted dash cover to protect the dash an it seems to allow the a/c to cool the vents down faster.I've only had mine for six months now, and my truck is in full sun from sunrise to nearly sunset 5-6 days/week and I see no signs of any kind of deterioration or wear yet.
I've gone to my truck at 2pm, 3pm...and it's actually tolerable getting in it, and I live in a brutally sunny climate. If I can remember, or pay attention enough, I'll try and do some with/without temp testing. I'm curious to know, but I gotta say at a guess, it's at least 30 degrees difference.
