I prefer Taco Salad... Vs. a Taco....
Is that the answer everyone is looking for?
All the reasons above and them some until there is a 300 HP Hybrid... Then first to the block wins IMO.
I did have some delicious tacos Monday at a little brewery in Manitou springs.

They were phenomenal. I prefer regular tacos to taco salad.

Honestly I completely avoided anything Toyota because every third person in my town has a Tacoma or tundra and I wanted to be able to find my truck in the parking lot.

I picked the Ranger because I’ve almost always drove a Ford or at least had one in my driveway since I started driving and it seemed like a good midsize truck for the money. I’ve been a little irritated with a couple of small things on the Ranger but overall I am very happy I got the truck and would probably get another one in the future because of the luck I’ve had with it and how much I like driving it.

I considered a Maverick because they came out the same time I was looking but it felt too small for my liking. Felt like I was going to get run down by an F-150 every time I test drove one. A hybrid would be nice but otherwise I feel like the Ranger was the right choice for me

No midsize truck except the Ranger met my payload and towing minimum of 1800 and 7000lbs. I had one choice or buy another full size, and I didn’t want a second full size.
Yes, this. Only the Ranger has the combination of curb weight, towing capacity, power to weight and off-road capability that our style of adventuring demands. Maybe the others will catch up, but the Ranger was hands down the top pick for what we like to do.

I made the mistake of buying a ranger. I recently resolved that issue. What a pile. I really can't say much good about it except it was cheap and got half decent fuel mileage. Grew to hate driving it, especially in winter. I was in the dealership about every 2 months with a different warranty issue. The customer service was excellent, but a bought new because I needed reliability, which this truck was not. So it was time to move on, and am happy I did.Cheers!
Nice to see at least one contrarian in the mix , is that a 62 Galaxie 500 in your profile ? I once owned a 62 Mercury Monterey, spent a good deal of time fixing it up, got plates for it and the very 1st day I took it out for a long drive the tranny gave it up. Had better luck with my 59 Pontiac Bonneville with tri-power, that car kicked butt and drove well until I wrecked it.

But at the end of the day Ford is a US based company. That last dollar in the deal always goes to Detroit. Unlike some of the foreign brands that brag about being built in the US. Maybe so... but that last dollar finds its way to Japan.

In 2020 (or 21 maybe?) the Ranger had the most US content of any vehicle sold here.
Regarding that "Last dollar", I'm no longer convinced of that. The fashion seems to be to keep that last dollar in the country with the lowest tax rate. I would use Apple as the prime example of that. With Ford being the type and size of multinational corporation that it is, any real discussion would be supposition at best.
So, where does that leave us? For me in general, I just want to patronize companies that hire as many American workers as possible. But even then I have to confess to my last vehicle which was a Ford Transit Connect. I LOVED that TC, and I'd still have it if it could have towed my trailer. It was made in Valencia, Spain.
So for all my yapping, I'm still a little bit of a hypocrite myself.

I was strongly considering the Tacoma when I was looking to upgrade from my 20 year old Chevy. But after reading about their issues with frame rust and transmission, and hearing my coworker talking about having to have his transmission tuned to make it any good, I moved on.

Next for consideration was the Colorado. Well, their transmissions need tuned also, and I didn't want to risk Chevy after reading about brand new Silverados blowing up. Also looking at it, any model less than a ZR2 just does not have the ground clearance for the hiking adventures my wife and I have planned.

Gladiators are too damn expensive.

So to the Ranger we go. This generation is technically 8 years old or so when you consider the Australian model, and I haven't read about any major issues with this engine or transmission. Looked at used anything and they're just as expensive as new anything.

How much does it cost to order from the factory?

Ooh! Local Ford dealership is having an invoice pricing sale!

Ending in 4 days ?

Play around with the online configurator.

Enter the Tremor...

Watch some YouTube videos...

Um, sold!

I give Toyota as a whole a huge edge over Ford as it pertains to marketing and TV ads, like the latest Tacoma ad showing the gal driving her old Tacoma home to visit her dad, presumably it had been his. But the ads aren't even that good to have me consider a Tacoma, not to diss Jan but have to give Lilly the edge, and make that a very large edge in certain areas.
Now if Lilly was a Toyota pitch women it may have been a much more difficult decision.

I thought that he had passed away and that was his last voice mail to her and she had inherited the truck. I have to admit - that commercial kills me.

Had a Tacoma and it was ok for what it was at the time and for what I was towing. Bought a slightly larger camper and between the squatting and a transmission that always had the engine screaming I moved up to a Tundra. The Tundra felt like a lateral move except now I was getting even worse gas mileage. The Tundra still squatted badly and seemed to never be in the right gear. Mind you my "bigger" camper was only a 19ft/3900lb rig.

Looked at the specs and the styling and decided to give the Ranger a go. I couldn't be happier. It's everything the Tacoma should have been but isn't.

I drove Tacoma's, worked on Tacoma's, and saw a major change happen in '16. Junk! The TSB's were flying off the press. Stupid shit quality control.
Now to be honest, If I could've found a 2015 like new Taco before I bought my 2019 Ranger, I would have bought it. Last of the good one's IMO.
I did my homework and glad I made the right choice. Looks like it was the last of the good deals to be had out there too.
