I see some ups and downs on the list, I've had 4 new Rangers ...'88, '92, '01. an now '19.
They were all pretty much identical in reliability Zero unscheduled maintenance for the first 100, 000 miles.
The worst Rangers I ever had were in fleet, 1997's ( about a dozen)
The defect was a new design switch for the door chime / interior light (admittedly a bad design).
Can't recall but I think I had this issue with my 1998 Ranger. Had to give up on this issue by giving it to the dealer for a week to fix the issue - switch in the door itself I think was the problem? Can't remember anymore.

Scary. Dealer once left my Focus at 10 miles to empty and I was freaking the heck OUT finding a gas station on the way home. ?

Nah.... wasn't scary. I passed the gas station with 3 miles left on it. I purposely drove a mile out and a mile back, just to do this post. And, I have roadside assistance with my insurance, as well. Just in case.

Costco near my office has 91 octane for $4.34

It's $4.42 at the Costco close to the house, which is 50 miles north and located in the highest oil producing county in Coiorado.....you'd think we'd pay less in Weld County......

Yes, they did away with the old button switch and placed the switch inside the door on the latch mechanism. This left the "door ajar" chime on constantly along with the dome light.
Lots of door slamming!

That's still not bad considering here it's now up to $4.94 for 91 at Costco. I know where I'll be filling up next month when when we meet up!

I'll tell a story on myself. In 1967 I bought a new Triumph TR4 (my first new car but not my first car). The dealer did not fill the tank on delivery and the gauge was reading empty so I drove to the nearest gas station a couple of blocks away. That's when my confusion started, it took me about two minutes to figure out where the gas tank filler was located. I walked around the car a couple of times before discovering the filler was in the middle between the seats and the trunk.

Come to think of it, now that I recall the summer of 2019 that I was dealing with this, I remember the chimes not working at first and couldn't figure out why and then realized the previous owner disconnected the cable in the doors - for this reason! ?After I connected them, it was fine until I hit a bump. Replaced those switches myself. Dealer replaced the door locks.

Full dose of pain yesterday. $75 bucks to fill the Ranger tank. I’m still wincing about that! When I bought the truck Dec 2020 it was $37 bucks to fill it with high test

I truly feel your pain. I filled up the Jeep today. It was mid-grade and at the Chevron station but 14.889 gallons cost $98.25. $6.599 per gallon. California gas tax is going to increase again in July.

I was pretty sure I had done something screwy with the arithmetic I used in calibrating the MPG calculator. Last fill-up my computer said 24.6 and the hand calc was 21.4. This time my computer said 18.4 MPG and the hand calc once again came out to 21.4. I made another adjustment to the calibration on the computer (set it at 944 ;)), but I am pretty sure my around town (with a little highway thrown in) will be a pretty steady 21.4 MPG, at least during this break-in period.

Somewhere between 1/2 and 1/4 mostly. I don't want to get caught short if I have to go anywhere on the spur of the moment, and I don't like to live dangerously and run to the fumes.
This. I definitely do not live dangerously when it comes to gas. Don’t want to run out. There’s maniacs out there!:LOL:
