Just ordered through 'Awesome Ford' of Chehalis, WA:
Cactus Gray Super Crew XLT FX4, 301a, Tow Package.
$1000 custom order discount, $2000 Ford financing rebate (pending, available), $500 first responder discount. Out the door price, including tax and license and presuming Ford financing is $40,728.28, in writing. Per Ford, confirmed by dealer, I should have access to discounts available at time of order or time of delivery. Very upfront, prompt and transparent experience with Awesome Ford. Done all online and via phone call within a couple hour period. So far so good..
Ordered Monday Mar 21, 2022. Received Ford's order confirmation Tues. Waiting on VIN. Dealer said maybe 6 months but I hope that's them being conservative.
Prior terrible, failed purchase attempt at Sound Ford of Renton, WA.
Saw the same truck but with Blackout Package listed as 'in transit,' Ford MSRP listed as $41,960 with $2000 worth of Ford - not the dealer's - rebate. I inquired, sales manager confirmed the MSRP and discounts by phone, asked I come down and test drive a similar truck, then seal the deal. He called an hour later and said 'guess what, your truck is actually here, lets make an appt!'
Upon arrival, the 'in transit' vehicle was in fact not there, the sales manager offered only a shoulder shrug, "I thought it arrived." I test drove a different truck, loved it and went in for the negotiation. The sales manager said "when we get this truck in we're adding $1500 to the sticker price. We'll sell it to you for that." I reminded him he confirmed the MSRP and discounts, that was what I was willing to pay, no more.
A couple faux trips back to 'his manager' and he said they'll wait until the truck's arrival and sell at their intended upcharged price. I reminded him his verbal history of confirmations that are now undeniably false, in a polite matter-of-fact way. He left us and started towards another customer. I asked if he wanted to negotiate further or sell me any truck today, he said "I guess nooooooot" in a wide eyed, shoulder shruggy way.
So, he and the dealer got a scathing point by point review online and via Ford's service satisfaction inquiry. My wife and I were dumbfounded at this new low of dishonest car salesmanship. Luckily it was only a waste of 3 hours.
