What did you do WITH your Ranger today?

Went for a nice overnight exploring (more of) the Sierras south of Lake Tahoe, then drove home to the Bay Area via Yosemite.

With our ceiling replacement (1950's Pinex panels) and addition of insulation (none at all in our 1955 cape), there have been five (5!!!) glorious dump runs this week. =)

None photo worthy, just black trash bags, but still living the dream. However, on a dump run this morning, Soupie's Big Brother was there, an F150 Race Red Scab!

Drove it to the local Honda dealer and traded for a new CRV. It’ll be my third Honda in as many years and I fully intend on running into the ground with many hundreds of thousands of miles as I did with others before it.

Originally was waiting for a new hybrid Mav AWD, but for the same/less money I get a (in my opinion) much nicer vehicle, especially when it comes to the interior.

I only had 27k on the Ranger, but the bucking/surging/stuttering/odd noises were just too much. It was time to move on.

Wife hated the Ranger anyways- so happy wife happy life, right?

If it has the 1.5L turbo keep an eye out for fuel dilution. Honda bought back our 2021 CRV with only 3600 miles on it. 15% fuel dilution on the oil sample. They admitted that driving habits (short trips/engine not warming up) were the main cause. Sales manager said our salesman should have had a discussion with us about our driving habits and recommended a different vehicle. Honda has done some improvements to the 1.5L regarding this issue but it’s still prevalent. That being said they were very good about it and gave us full purchase price for it on a trade for a Passport.

Hauled a few shingles for the pole barn. 2,200 lbs. 40 psi in rear tires, 32 up front. Up hills, RR tracks... piece of cake. Not going to do that in a Honda.
I've hauled more. Heaviest gross was

Well, fingers crossed the tweaks they did for the 6th gen means it’s no longer an issue. And if it is, that’s what warranties are for. ? Really, you roll the dice with most new-er cars these days. It’s just about which ones are less problematic and the right fit for your needs.

Just suggesting that you keep an eye on it. Check your oil at 2000-3000 miles and if it’s good then no worries. But I wouldn’t recommend waiting till a 10000 mile oil change to find out ( the dealer tech won’t mention the fuel dilution if they see it). By the way their warranty was to replace the car with something different as there is no fix to it. The reason I brought it up is because someone that had the same problem alerted us which caused me to check the oil at 3600 miles which in turn horrified me.

Well, it took almost 3-1/2 years, but I hit a milestone recently:

I know that isn’t a lot compared to some on here, but up until this point I have loved every single mile. This truck has been fantastic, and while I have my eye on a Ranger Raptor at some point in the future, but I might just forego it because I love my 5G so much.

Beautiful area. Not as crowded either. Someday I will explore that part of the Sierras…

Drove down to the freight terminal to pick up a big grapple for my tractor. Nice 80 mile trip and with 350 pounds in the back it rode like a Cadillac on the wayhome
