I am okay with sort of de minimis dust getting in there - it's a truck bed, I don't expect it to be sealed like the cab. But this was just insane amounts coming in clearly from around the tailgate to a degree I have never seen before and never anticipated.
Hey Folks,
I recently took a road trip that involved significant time off road, both on slow 4x4 tracks crawling along, and on high speed unpaved roads doing 45-55mph. On my return home I found that after the period of high speed dirt running on the return trip there was a *lot* of dust...
The thunder was a ways off and the storm was a surprise. The forecast an hour earlier had said nothing but clouds until the next day. That’s the mountains. 🤷‍♂️
Today I drove from the SF Bay Area to the east side of the Sierras and drove a bunch of easy & rough 4wd roads, ending up at 11k feet on Kavanaugh Ridge, where I was going to camp until it started thunder hailing and I eventually decided to retreat to a lower elevation. The Ranger did great...
It’s a Bakflip MX4. The first two panels fold entirely open. The third folds up but is stopped by the front cross bar. I haven’t tried the prop rods but I’d be a bit surprised if it opens far enough for them to work as without the rack. Works great for my needs so far though.
Took advantage of some Labor Day sales and finally made my Truxedo CS rack useful. Added a Yakima LockNLoad B platform (60x54 inch) and a Yakima Major Shady 270 degree awning. This leaves me with a tonneau cover that I can open up under the towers/rails, and plenty of rack space too...
Greetings fellow EBer! And sorry for the much-delayed response. We just welcomed a baby so my forum time has dropped drastically.
I am pretty happy with the exhaust. It hasn't gotten objectionably louder, and the truck still feels peppy. So far, 9/10 would recommend.
Installed my Magnaflow Overland exhaust today. Bit of a pain in the ass since I’ve only done exhausts on motorcycles previously and had to go buy deep sockets and a hanger tool, but pretty happy with the end result.
One reason I really like this exhaust is that you can adjust the sound level...
I have noticed occasionally when driving on my own the passenger seat in my Tremor shaking like crazy. I assumed that my tires were out of balance or something but I guess maybe I have a failed counterweight? Very interesting!
It’s been a while since I did anything to the Ranger… Which means I was overdue!
So over the last couple of days I installed an SVC Off-road light/bull bar, and a flood/spot ARB Solis 36 combo. I also fabbed up some extra braces for the bar since it flexed more than I liked. Ended up w/2...
