Took a drive up to the (fake) lake we walk around. It's finally warm here (81) so we walked 3 miles around and even saw the turtles enjoying the warm weather. :sun:?

Made the trip to the cabin. Drive started with a beautiful sky, then came across an F150 Platinum owner that is having a bad day. Final video is recent 12" snow that was plowed but driveway had about 16" with 24" berm. Then driveway after I cleared it. Snow depth is 52-60"

Drove about 5.5 hours in the dark last night on small two-lane state highways, and I’m happy to report that I still love my Ranger. The new bug deflector seems to have helped, too, although bugs aren’t a huge problem this time of the year.

The auto brights feature worked flawlessly, but something curious happened. I had three different drivers flash their brights at me despite the fact that my brights were off. I took more than a little pleasure flashing my brights at them to prove that I was using my low beams. One particular a$$hole flashed his twice, so either his second flash was an acknowledgment of the fact I was not using my brights or he was just a glutton for punishment and needed more of my brights burning into his retinas.

Now, three a-holes out of probably 500 cars I passed is not much, but here’s the curious part. I saw an oncoming vehicle that appeared to have his brights on. I did not flash mine at the driver since I try to be a tolerant individual, but as he passed, I was shocked to see that it was a Ford F*cking Ranger!!!

That got me to wondering if my low beams really were irritating to other drivers, and maybe those three drivers weren’t a-holes after all.
The only time I've really had people flashing at me was when I had a load in the bed or towing an RV or car. I still say Jeep Wranglers have the worst low beams that look like high beams.

Took a drive to northern NM to look at some cabins. Had lunch in Taos, photo is Taos mountain. Computer said I got 28 mpg round trip and I was able to transfer fuel from my reserve tank to test it out. The mileage, assuming it's close to that makes me happy I got a 4x2, but the snowy area we drove through made me long for a 4x4. So started priming the boss for that. Played with the ACC and discovered that turning off the traction control kills the ACC. Fun drive through winding highways, freeways, construction and I really love how the Ranger handles as well as the comfort. Almost home and a Colorado tried to cut me off but he was no match. Tuner, or trade up to a 4x4?

Easy decision Brian. Trade up to a 4x4 then get it tuned. ;)

Keep in mind, that 28 mpg will only be a fond memory no matter which way you go. :D

i agree. the newer wranglers with led lights are terribly aimed or too bright. even in the rear view mirror they seem to pointed up at my face than on the road

Brian you could try tuning it first. But if you're going to buy a cabin in the mountains and dealing with snow I'd really consider getting a 4x4. If not get the tune you can always transfer it to another Ranger if you end up going that route later on.
Nah, a damper and tire chains will get you through the worst of the snow. Plus, Graphene will let your truck glide through the snow!

Looks like some awfully pretty country, so beautiful!

Chevy Tahoes with LED headlights are horrendous. That was my last assigned work truck and I was constantly getting flashed with my lights on low.

Today after so long Abbigail is getting the bilstein setup installed... patiently waiting at the alignment shop. Almost ready!

update. its friday now. truck still not ready. spent about 2 full days waiting on it. took an uber home. truck still there. pinion angle is off has vibrations. apparently alignment shops and suspension shops dont actually keep basic needed items like shims or angle finders around anymore. nor do parts suppliers lol. geez. when i was kid you could go to any parts place in town and ask for caster shims etc. and walk out with them in hand for a few bucks. i already regret doing this and wish i had not spent the money. finally had the shims show up. alignment shop put them in. it helped but still has drive line vibration. alignment shop is making a honest effort. i think the truck just wants to be stubborn. back to ford monday  the lifted abbs looks good. but havent gotten to try it out yet.. maybe by next weekend it will be worked out and i can return to the rocky trails and put the suspension to work.

Ranger got me to Tamarack for a deep powder day. :)

Back in the late 70s and early 80s, we’d head to Whitefish, MT from Calgary, AB in search of powder. The beer was cheap and the powder was deep. Fun!
