Yesterday I took the Ranger on it's first all day off road excursion. Went into our local mountains and took the Grapevine Canyon Trail down towards the desert and into the Anza Borrego State Park. It was all 2 wheel drive stuff, but fun to explore.

Once in the desert, I went into Borrego and found the Coyote Canyon Trail. Again, all 2 wheel drive with a lot of washboard sand roads. That is until I got to a water crossing and then had to climb my way up a rocky and rough road to get to the upper canyon. Came across a local Chuckwalla lizard on the way back down the rocky section.

The second trailing skid plate up front took a hit (with a dent) on the first trail. The truck did great up the rocky section. This stock suspension has to go though. The rear was horrible traveling over the washboard roads. I had aired down my tires to 22 lbs. which helped, but nothing is going to fix the poor rear leaf spring design except for replacement with a multi-leaf. The severe bouncing around on the rocks (going slow) wasn't pleasant either.

Hi Shea,

Been years since I saw a chuckwalla. we use to see them wedged between rocks where they inflate their lungs and become almost impossible to get out of the rocks... Had one as a pet for over a year as a kid, They make good pets...docile. Fond memories!

After I bought my base XL 21 Ranger My wife traded in her 17 Jeep for a Tremor and a couple weeks later really missed her Jeep. She was going to trade in the Tremor and get another Wrangler so I let her trade in my XL and I bought her Tremor.

Now it's mine all mine...lol

I looked at how dirty my ranger is. Can’t wash it just yet as Tuesday I might go drive out to look at the “double negative land art” in the desert. Stay tuned.

Have to google it to know what I am talking about.

Loaded up the family and traveled to southernmost point in Finland. Purely on road trip as all off-roading was done in the traditional way.

Took some pictures, but forgot to take a snap from the truck :)

Here we have a view to east towards toll dock. Most of our cars come through this place and the toll-park had about 5000 different cars pending delivery to dealers. I guess this is for the shipping monitoring.

The view to the other side is mainly Finnish archipelago (That's lot of small islands in the sea, either with just rock surface or with some trees on them - 224 661 to be exact ).

The hiking path varied between rock, gravel and sand but wasn't really that maintained. Looked to be more like a place for locals to relieve their dogs. I observed a number of leaners over the path, some rotted out trees already creaking in the wind and few widow makers there. Look to be more like accident waiting to happen.

Luckily at the end of the trail there was art exhibition of near past rock paintings. I believe archaeologists dated this back to 2014-2019 period.

Well, in here we should add image of muddy truck but I forgot it. And this concludes my report on the southern most point of Finland :)

In the morning, stopped at the local gas station for coffee and rolls with the local crowd.
In the afternoon, went to town. Got a hair cut, went to coffee shop.
Then stopped at the office for about 1.5 hrs. Quitting time comes pretty quick when ya get to the office at 3:30! :)
I need those work hours!?

Just got back from the first camping trip in my Ranger. 3 nights spent in it, 2 nights camped on the lake with some quality offroad trails around to explore, and 1 night spent in mountain bikers heaven. Looking forward to many more nights spent away

I wish I was getting out an about in y truck to drive some trails and stuff, but I just haven't had time. :( I did get to use my truck this weekend though! First thing I got to do was deliver a helmet to my old roommate and college buddy. He had COVID-19 and was in the hospital for 44 days. 32 of those days, he was in an induced coma because of complications. One of my old college buddies bought him a replica team helmet, and sent it all around for us to autograph and I was the last stop, so I delivered it to his wife. Mail travels slow, and he's now recovered and back to work! But it was cool being able to deliver that to his wife.

After that I went to Home Depot with my wife and loaded up with stuff she needed for her vegetable garden! Man, I need to install my add-a-leaf so don't get the Carolina Squats anymore! LOL

Too much weight, not enough rear suspension!

Don’t we all‼
Ha! Full disclosure - I've been working from home since the 'rona kickoff.
Full time, so I stumble down the stairs at 7am, and I'm at work. Luckily, I keep the coffee bar well stocked (that's a whole other hobby).
I stop at the office once a week for an hour or 2.

Nothing too exciting, ran a few errands and brought the camper home from storage. Now to get it de-winterized and ready for our cross country trip.
