The only thing I can actually say about it is that it probably does decrease intake temps quicker when you stomp on it back to back to back and its stinkingly hot in there. I find myself returning back to lower temps quicker than before, but could be placebo. Not worth the $120, is my overall verdict.

DISCLAIMER: I stomp on it too much to get data on MPG, so it might be worth testing for MPG gains with a steady foot.
True. Mod your truck and drive it in ways that hurt mileage and you'll definitely have diminished returns if any benefit. Remove the 'lip' for your raptor style lights and you've altered the design.

For those owners this reduces the accessory to $120 of bling. Better off buying raptor lights and different badging or vinyl decals.

Finished up the prototype and it fits nicely without any rubbing. I'll start a new thread on the testing when I print the final model.

I'm waiting on some new print cores since I haven't replaced those in years and they have some serious mileage on them.

Also waiting on some new ASA material which will be fun to dial in (sarcasm). Only material I have on hand that would be suitable for the temps is polycarbonate (PC), but without coating the model, long term UV exposure would just degrade the part, and ASA would just be a better material for this application.

I'll data-log my morning drive routine, (3) days without and (3) days with. I think if you grab speed, rpm, ambient air temperature, and intake air temperature that should give a good snapshot of the any benefits.

Few minor issues to resolve for any final design. Top gasket is needed for leveling. The hood shroud when attached is not level with the center divider. I got close but need to add another 5mm to maximize the space. 1mm needs to come off the left side as it will rub against the shroud there. And another 1mm off the base so it doesn't rub against the frame. My grill light is definitely an issue like many raptor style lighting. The opening is far enough back that any normal pressure build up has a path to go in the tube.

Did you utilize the oem opening under the hood? Or did this get modified with the design?

Still utilizes the OEM opening. Just made some modifications for tolerances and reduced the number of mechanical fasteners for the (2) pieces, (5) per side was overkill when (3) is more than sufficient. Also simplified the red trim. Just made it a simple add-on that can be dual printed as part of the model rather than a separate piece that needs a fastener(s).

I'm cautiously optimistic but the verdict is still out...I haven't had a chance to track highway speeds trips where the ram effect would come into play...although, coincidentally I noticed a couple MPG jump recently but it's most likely due to winter blend change over to summer?:bandit:
Summer gas doesn't come around until May-June, per the EPA requirement.

My curiosity got the better of me and found that the VT1515 discount code still applies, so I ordered one in black/black color scheme.

Had 2 on my 2016 mustang gt(1 for looks, other for function) & was impressed with fit/looks/air noise. Just ordered for my Ranger. Yes the discount code worked.

For me this would be more to just lower engine bay temps. If there is any MPG gains or power gains it’s not that much of an issue

I just ordered one as well.

The forum strikes again.

I gotta say with gas prices about doubled I'm feeling better about the prospect of getting an extra gallon's worth of mileage on the highway per tank.

This thing will pay for itself even quicker.
