Will it fit? Yes. Do you need a bigger filter? No. Why? Because Ford already did the necessary testing and found the FL-910 to be just fine for what the Ranger does on a regular basis

I'm wondering if they take the wheel off for ease of movement plus if the customer (at a Ford dealer) is paying for "The works" package that also includes a tire rotation.?

Tire rotation is included in "The Works" and the dealer will remove the tire for access. I know I did

If nothing else, the longer filter is easier to remove since it is easier to get a grip on.

Also.

There are plenty of things that are 'fine' but they're also built to a price. Better can be had.

Agree. And, the stock system already holds 6+ quarts.....does anyone really think the addition of a few more ounces of oil to a 6+ quarts will effect anything ??? Extra lube, extra cooling....I seriously doubt it !!!
And, the larger filter, as posted in an earlier post, has a different psi relief valve with a lower rating than the 900....it just might effect the system in the wrong way.

When I had my 2019, I never had an issue with that oil filter when it came to taking it off and on. Though I did hate it's location, I know Ford made up by having an excellent drip tray for it

It’s not about the extra oil, it’s about the extra media, which means the dirt, etc. will be spread out over a larger surface area. Can anyone tell me anything useful about the lower rating on the relief valve? Thanks in advance.

The relief valve is operated by a spring that is set at a certain psi, to open/close. It operates a bypass valve which closes under certain circumstances so oil will bypass the filter which may be clogged. This lets oil continue to circulate if something goes wrong with the filter.....so the engine is not starved for oil.
Using a different filter with a different bypass valve spring rating may not operate properly with the psi that the Rangers engine puts out. Ranger engine may not put out enough psi or too much psi for the spring in the different filter you want to use.
Hundreds of thousands of the 2.3 Ford engine using the proper filter for unknown millions of miles without any problems but if you wanna go bigger....its your Ranger....
