so i find myself in a odd situation where i have to get the pinon angle tweeked and swap the center support bearing again as the new one is already basically play dough. are any tougher / stronger / longer lasting under off road use - u joints or center supports or axle shafts available for the 5 g ranger? stuff that is direct fit swap in stuff i dont want any cutting grinding or further warranty killing than i have already committed .

thank you but im not willing to make that change yet. id prefer to just beef up the stock stuff.
They are no heavy duty ujoints or carrier bearings for our trucks. So OEM is the only way to go.

There are a lot of center supports out there (goggle it) and finding the one that has the size and dimensions that will fit is the key.
I’m going with a one piece as soon as I annoy the crap out of the dealer and Ford customer service..

I would swing by a driveline shop and see what they recommend? They will probably know off the top of their heads (if it's a shop that's been in business for a while).

If i was keeping this truck for longer than a couple more weeks, a one piece driveshaft would be on the next mod list for sure.

Hi Mark,

I think Dana has an aftermarks parts area, or at least they used to. I don't have the contact info but maybe someone of the forums has contact info...

Best,
Phil

the one piece shaft is not for me. several roads in Texas have high speed limits for long stretches and I would be pushing my luck with the critical speed of the shaft way too often. 70, 75, even 85 are pretty common. I know some will say just go slower. The average person has the false belief its "ok" to go five over. so 90 is the speed others will be going. if im going 65 or 70 im basically a traffic hazard that everyone will be tailgating and flying around like crazy which is not safe. I need to be able to do at least 85- 90 safely to not get run over by dummies lol.

What size tire are you running? My TW has been cruised at 85 on the highway without issue. Being on tires that are 32.8" diameter helps with top speed a bit. Been at 105 for a short burst to test and still not even a hint of vibration or instability. That TW shaft is built for a tank. Money well spent in my opinion.

31.6 at the moment. but when these wear out im thinking of 255 85 17 which is approx 34. woods driveshaft is great but im not going drive with one at the speeds i know i will have to drive. not that it cant do it. i dont want to test it lol. around 4k rpms is max for those to be in the safe range they mention.

I am on stock 31" and 85mph is S M O O T H with the TW shaft. Prior to this I would not venture over 70mph due to massive "scary" shakes =>75mph. And yes tires were in perfect balance.

Run the Spicer / Dana Critical Speed Calculator on your stock driveshaft and you will slow down even more. I reaches Critical Speeds much sooner than the TW shaft.
