Impressive really. I remember the first diesel upgraded turbos were this. Boy was it fun. Then the BB center section upgrades came out and wooo. For a solid daily that will surprise most I bet its nice.

other than your fueling issues does it pull better past 4500 or so. Stocker seems to trail off, feels like lack of air honestly.
It pulls to 6200 without tapering off. We shift it at 5950 because it really doesn’t need to be hanging out past 6k except for special occasions.

thats awesome. Our truck is too much of an oddity to get real performance parts like the mustang ecoboost. Thanks for being a pioneer for the rest of us.

Exactly, it’s not a big turbo, just a cheater wheel in a machined stock housing. It’s definitely a nice setup though, it drives great and doesn’t have enough lag to be a pain to drive at all. It made 392 in bad air on the dyno a few weeks ago. My in tank pump is out of flow at that power level.

The Mustang 2.3s have a different fuel system IIRC (dual injectors?) so I can't see a return on adapting a system on our trucks - too much electronics. If a replacement injector and E85 conversion became a thing maybe?

I'm more interested in the contribution the fastmavericks turbo makes and how those mods influence performance. A disqualification for me would be a loss or degradation of daily driving or towing/hauling utility. It sounds like 'maybe' reliability might not be compromised?

You're getting an outstanding amount of bonus power, I'd almost (not wishing it) want to see it pushed to failure to figure out practical limits.

The 24 Mustang has dual injection. 15-23 all are dfi only. They have vastly different engines, strategies and equipment though. We learned a whole lot about that when we started working on the injectors with XDI. I have considered making a dual injection setup but haven’t needed to yet. My in tank pump is at its limit and either a better pump or BAP will be needed for me to proceed. There are other tuners that claim you can run e85 on a stock fuel system and maybe you can but the power would be quite low. For now I’ll stay with my current setup of e30, XDI injectors and otherwise stock fuel system. As for how it drives on the larger turbo….. It’s great, actually less twitcy and hyperactive down low and just keeps going up top. The powerband is shifted up a few hundred rpm and is still extremely responsive down low. We keep the tuning tame in drive so it’s not a problem for anyone to drive it normally in any conditions. We made sport mode quite responsive and gave it harder shifting so it’s nice and fun to drive spiritedly.

I too just found your thread and appreciate the pioneering you’ve been doing so far. Any new updates to report on yet?

Thank you! A few weeks ago we started offering a second gear take off option. I call it our 9r80 mod. It’s nice for drag launches but it’s also really smooth in regular use too.

Hi Mike. Seems a number of us are just now finding your post. Great stuff.
So, I am trying to put together a list of parts and sources to replicate this build. It's not quite clear to me if you are assembling & selling such a "kit" or just doing the tuning, etc.

At the moment, from what I have found, this is a pricey setup. XDI wants $2200 just for the injectors. Can't find a listing for the "Fast Maverick Turbo" (the website domain registration has expired... so are they out of business??) Guessing the turbo is $2K+. Or $1K for just the turbo wheel and having a turbo machine cut the housing. Then a HVHP fuel pump (though this is optional if you don't want/need higher output than you have already achieved). Of course the tune.... +/- $1k??

Then all the other upgrades you have (downpipe, bigger intercooler, larger hot & cold intake/exhaust pipes, etc.) $$$ (and how much of those are needed to benefit from the new turbo... clearly they help but how much?? 10% or 50%)

I would love to attempt a setup similar to this but the current price point ($5K-$6k??) seem out of my budget. What's the biggest bang for the buck out of this configuration?? Or so dependent on each part that breaking it up would be pointless??

Your thoughts please. Thanks.

So, I have a bunch of custom parts but I’m not convinced that they are really THAT necessary. You can achieve a similar result with off the shelf parts and our tuning. We have a few customers who make incredible power with less power. We try to shape and control our power delivery to compliment the truck better. No need for the giant torque spikes other tuners let happen down low, we want these things to last and drive well for everyone. There are a few different combinations that we have tested that have great results. We are using e30 on mine with injectors only (no pumps) it made 392rwhp which is about 455 on the crank. Yeah, some bad stuff happened with Fast Mavericks but there are other options for that. I’m not sure if I covered your questions or not but it’s a good start ?
