Hey guys,

I’ve looked and can’t find anything on a Wastegate upgrade.

To start I’ve done these things to my 2019 ranger xlt

Roush cai/catback exhaust
Spd catted downpipe
Mishimoto intercooler
Gfb vta bov
Ford performance fox Suspension
Ford performance cal4 tune
Jb4 piggy back tuner

Was recommend to do the Wastegate next to complete max boost from stock turbo. Can’t seem to find anything online for parts that are made for the ranger. I see the focus and mustang ones but don’t want to buy the wrong part. Are these interchangeable? Thanks in advance

Turbosmart GenV CompGate40 External Wastegate: A popular, motorsport-proven external wastegate that delivers precise boost control and exceptional thermal performance. You can find it and similar components at American Trucks.

Pure Turbos Pure600 Upgrade: If you want an overhaul rather than just a standalone wastegate, this kit upgrades the entire compressor wheel, bearing housing, and turbine. It comes with an upgraded actuator assembly and is available at TurboKits.com.

The waste gate on the Ranger is controlled by the ECM and has no Vacuum to it. Besides tuning, there really is no upgrade for it.

Also you need to choose to have either the Ford Tune or the POS piggyback liar for performance tuning. Combining the two is a great recipe for disaster.

I’ve learned that it needs to be done with a new turbo but I’d need to upgrade fuel system to support e85 and even then without ripping apart the motor and doing new pistons and rods I’ll max out around 400hp and it’s really not worth going that far right now. Potential though to make a 10 sec Ranger if I do

If your goal is to make the world's fastest Ranger, then you need to step back and rethink how you're going to do it. Also if money is an object right now, you might as well stop.

I’ve been told it’s fine as long as I set my boost to no higher the 25psi to keep the stock turbo from burning. It hasn’t had any issues and is fine for my current setup. If I move toward the new turbo I will definitely be moving towards a full tune. I’m not worried about money but it’s a lot to do and my schedule isn’t as empty as it was. I was joking about making the fastest ranger. I am in noway a professional and no I don’t want to be. Just enjoying the vehicle and seeing what is possible.

These wastegates are electric so it should be tunable with a custom tune.

what are you hoping to get out of it? Faster release, longer hold for more boost? Past 22 psi the stock turbo really falls out of its efficiency range anyway.

I was looking into the next possible upgrade without doing forged pistons and rods. Everything I’ve read says the turbo maximum is 25psi. I’ve currently tuned it with a safety at 24psi. I just want to make the motor push as much as it can without causing an ecoboom.

I had an issue with spark plugs recently due to gap being to much. Had no idea when producing that much boost you need to have a smaller gap to prevent detonation or knock. I was looking at Wastegate upgrades cause there was something I read that mentioned the only thing to help with performance outside of doing the pistons, rods, hpfp, e85 conversion and turbo upgrade was upgrading the Wastegate but I learned that isn’t possible with out fabrication.

I’m at the point I can’t do anything more with out going down a very expensive road. Just gonna hold off until I have more time off work.

you could send in your turbo to be upgraded like I did, I drive my truck pretty hard and have not had any issues with spark plugs, but I do gap mine at 28

I’ve been told the spark plugs are brittle and if you try and gap them without the proper tool you can break them. I ordered a pre gapped set but still haven’t received them. I just ordered the pure 600 and have zfg tune. Hoping to really feel the hp from the bolt ons and the new turbo. Can’t install until I get my tune and pregapped spark plugs. Really excited to see what happens. After this though it’s a full engine rebuild if I want to go over 400hp
