Last week took truck to dealer ,the transmission was doing a clunk between 9th and 10th gear, up shift and downshift ,mechanic took it for a spin and confirmed it but is 2 weeks out to work on it plus they have no loaners for me to drive also having problems getting parts, hopefully i can drop it off this friday ,only have 16000 miles on it, sure glad i have a warranty on it, probably could have avoided this problem if I would have installed a damper.

Could you keep driving it while they are procuring parts and just lock it out of 10th?

You can lockout the gears with the +/- buttons on the shifter. I would just lock out 9th and 10th and drive it easy.

Since you brought it up (see guys I didn't start this ? ) I don't think the damper would've helped as it adds way to much hp/tq. ?

Just so you know, what he's talking about is using the +/- in D to simply lock out 9th and 10th.

I'd do this over full on S just to take it easy on the transmission.

I love that +/- button. I rarely put mine in 9/10th unless I'm over 60. Seems like it "lugs" in 10th under 55.
Even at 60mph in 8th, its only @ 2000RPM, so no worries. Over 60, in 9/10th, it drops down to about 1600rpm

Hope it's nothing serious David. Please keep us updated. One never knows, but the fix may be helpful if needed. Good luck.

When i did talk to the service guy he did say they have to take the pan off and apply air to the valves to see if there moving correctly or something like that if that makes any sense.

this is true, if a damper was installed, the problem would have surfaced before the first oil change at 3000 miles.
Confirmed. Had to get valve body/solenoids replaced at 2100. Got oil change and transmission fluid change too then. Also I did thankfully have a loaner Ranger.
