i got lucky with getting the 5g in to be looked at so far. dropped it off thursday morning they said 48 hours until a tech would be in it. as that was end of the week i will not know anything till monday. but thats a lot better than the months and months other dealers said.

They checked trans fluid at shop on my truck when I asked to do it.
As my truck runs kilometers not miles will my tranny explode at 100 000 km or I need to recalculate it into miles? ?
I doubt Ford will add “tranny life % left” to app…

According to Sid, you should be good until you hit 152,887.68 km. Then...... ?

Wondering if they’ll change the valve body and do the reset. I’ve read through the tsb and performing only an adaptive reset is the easy way out. If that doesn’t fix it I’m guessing they need to perform the whole tsb. How did your transmission shift prior to this issue? I’ve got 5500 on mine and it shifts really bad in sport or tow mode. Normal mode is better but I get a ton of lugging around 1100 rpm since I’m in way to high a gear. I get really rough downshifts in normal mode after driving in tow or sport for a bit. Weirdest thing. Having mine looked at early March but I doubt they’ll say much is wrong if no codes are thrown.
I have a 2020 with just 12k on it. My transmission mysteriously started acting normal at 9000 miles. I mean night and day difference. I did change the differential fluid at 8000 and that helped the noise and the way it “felt”. Obviously the diff fluid change would not have anything to do with the trans but I did not realize how noisy it was until I heard the difference. Super easy because they put in a drain plug in addition to the fill plug…thank god. Takes 15 minutes, no jack.

Well that’s good to hear. Maybe it’ll just take a bit. I’m hoping it’ll figure itself out. Ford removed the drain hole on the 2022 rear diffs which makes no sense.

i wonder if part of the problem is the trucks leaving with less than full on trans fluid.
I took my truck in for its first 5K service, please spare the lectures it’s my money, I told the service writer trans shifts funny and my research revealed trucks left plant one quart low. When I got my vehicle back they said I was a little over a quart low. Thank you 5G forum.

It’ll figure itself out one way or the other. One may be maturing into nice, smooth shifts, while becoming a reliable part of the truck because it knows it’s the right thing to do and the other way ends with its self destructive tendencies grenading itself to pieces because it hates being part of the “machine “ and wont work for “the man” all while screaming “I f****** hate yoouuu dddaaaaaaddddd!!!” Oh wait we’re talking about transmissions?

Putting aside Ford's recommendation of a 150k fluid change, have any of you having problems or funky shifting with some miles on the truck done any fluid changes?

I think so. His transmission blew up shorty after. @Msfitoy how’d that fluid change work again? Moral of the story, we’re all screwed ?

I guess what I'm looking for is.

Has anyone started a regular 'early' service on theirs and still had problems down the road. Not necessarily people that have waited until they sense an issue and start changing fluids and resetting adaptives hoping for a cure.
