I use the blue shop paper towels because my son in law works for Kimberley Clarke. So I have the hook up. lol. Just be vigilant in looking for any loose lint, strings, etc. no matter what you use.
Ford says the gasket is reusable. Mine looked brand new. I lightly wiped it and examined pretty closely. Reused it and have not had a problem. I don’t understand how some people have used 7 plus quarts of fluid though unless they used one of the oversized pans. I drained 6 quarts plus a tiny...
Got mine from Summit. Arrived in 3 days. Ordered the ULV fluid from oreilly. Keep track of which bolts go where. Took me an hour but I was really taking my time. Stick a tube in the dipstick hole and drop the other end in a drain pan. Pull a vacuum on the tube to get it started and it will empty...
Just wipe it out. Most of the gunk will be around the magnet. Or better yet, order the doorman pan with the drain plug. They are only 65.00. You get a brand new clean OE pan and a drain plug to boot.
Just now learning of this and wanted to check it out. 2 issues though. The website says purchase up to 41 months after the sale of the vehicle but does not list 2020. I bought my 2020 10-23-2020 (if my math is correct I have until the 23rd of this month till 41 months is up. It only has 17,000...
Mine gave up at 5k. Replaced under warranty obviously. He said it was both the center support and the output bearing at the transmission. Started growling and then went to screeching off and on at random times. (sounded exactly like a slipping belt)
Ironic. I was thinking the same thing. My 2020 only has 18,000 miles and I’m starting to get some interest in it since the word is out that the long bed is no longer available. I have looked at both the forester and outback online. Have not actually talked with the dealer about trading it. I...
I know this is an old thread but I can confirm some readings now that I have changed my pan (Dorman stock fluid level with drain plug) along with the filter and fluid of course.
Took 6 quarts and 12 ounces to get to between 4 & 5 hot.
Checking “warm” which is starting cold, reverse for 15...
Try turning the steering wheel all the way to the right. Take out the top 3 plastic plugs in the liner (maybe the next one down on the right if you want). Pull back and the filter is right there. You already found out that the oil pan needs to be back further than you think for the filter ?.
Before your tune changed did you notice any of this?
…I did MBRP single side and noticed a loss of power down low, some slight hesitation from a stop, and the tranny shifting much earlier now. It screams when I put my foot in it, but if I’m easy it will be in 3rd gear before I’ve complete a turn...
Was it a pita to do the fronts? I have done nearly everything to a vehicle myself over the years but have never had the need to swap front coil over struts.
I have the 4600’s on the rear and am happy. I desperately need to do the fronts. One front was replaced under warranty for leaking at 5K. That’s when I decided to do the rears myself. The first stock one i took off; I sat one end on the driveway and completely collapsed it with two fingers.
I’m in escambia county….Where they drive 25 in a 40 around the city but 85 in a 60 on the highway. A lot of old at heart drivers and vacationers renting cars kills the city streets (and my nerves)
2020 2wd with 17,000 miles on it. K&N, MBRP single side, unleashed 93 with 93 octane. 20’ elevation on a 60 degree day in the Florida panhandle.
5.6 to 60 with a soft start.
