Hey all,

I bought my 2019 about 10 days ago, and I see all kinds of posts about the transmissions going bad. I have the ford blue warranty for another 80ish days, is there any service I could schedule that would reveal if the transmission needs replaced? A transmission fluid change or something like that? Or am I more likely to do more harm than good with something like that. Coming on about 50k miles anyway so not a bad time to change the fluid anyway

There is a TSB on Trans issues with hard or delayed shifting. But I'm not sure if it's covered with your's.

Thanks for the info! I’m not too familiar with what that means, if I take it to a dealer they’ll run a test for me basically?

You might be asked about shifting issues, so keep that in mind.

Supposedly they skip the "flash ecu" and annoying tests that involve them trying one thing and sending you home just to find out it didn't work, then repeat (terrible sentence there, sorry). now they go into some kind of a direct test on the CDF drum.

from what i've read, you just need to go in and mention that your transmission is acting quirky. i bought my 2019 preowned, so i could do that and then pay the $100-200 diagnostic fee and then they'll run the test.

it's TSB 25-2024. here's the thread on it for your reading pleasure: https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/latest-tsb-for-the-10r80.33628/

best of luck. i'm in the same boat. warranty ends this summer. my transmission IS quirky, but no slamming gears. more thunking. i plan to inquire on this latest TSB and see what the dealer says.

Get some form of extended warranty is my recommendation. Bought my 2019 used 2 years ago. Got my extended warranty 2 months after I purchased it. Already paid for itself when they replaced the driveshaft and ring and pinion (the infamous clunking problem) last year. I love driving this truck, but every time I have a slight weird shift I wonder if it’s my turn ?.

Any recommendation on a company? They all seem very fishy ;)

If it’s the Ford Blue Certified coverage then the transmission is covered. Even if you have to pay for the diagnostic test ( .7 hours of labor) it would be worth it. I would go this route before doing anything else. Especially if you have any shifting quirks however slight they may be.

Hi david,
Read in my posts about tranny problems with my 2019. So far so good after warranty repair work.
You'll find items to ask your dealer about in thread.

I bought the Ford ESP when I bought my 2019 Ranger. 7-70 I think. $200 deductible.
Is this extended service plan "Ford Blue Certified" coverage? Since Ford issued the ESP I'd expect it to be as good as it gets.

ESP coverage will cover this. Ford Blue Certified is for used vehicles I believe.
Here’s the wording from the TSB

“Warranty Status: Eligible under provisions of New Vehicle Limited Warranty (NVLW)/Service Part Warranty (SPW)/Service Part
New Vehicle (SPNV)/Extended Service Plan (ESP) coverage. “
