What number range on the dipstick is considered “normal”?

If you were good before and nothing has changed, I would enjoy your trip and not be concerned about it.

I found that the fluid level is sensitive to temperature, how it's been driven prior to checking and especially if it's on flat ground when checking.

I also found that if you put it up on a hoist to check the fluid, you need to rack it like it sits on the ground, if you just rack it on the flat of the frame, the front end goes up in the air first and the fluid will be a little low compared to how it sits on the ground.

But really, everything affects the fluid level, just ride the height alone, heavy loads in the bed, towing loads, no loads, lift kits, leveling kits and lowering kits, there are many things, that's why it's a range.

To me, the important thing is, you just want to make sure it's not too low, that's when shifting is affected.

Got mine today. Thanks Sir for the work you did to make it happen. Sad FORD couldn't do it. Again, I would say It's a great deal vs a new tranny (Not Budlight) Thank you sir for doing this.

Well the trip went fine. At 70mph the trans temp hovered between 185 to 187. Doing 80 to 85 and it went up to 192. Stop and go bumper to bumper traffic it hovered between 200 and 205.

The fitting that threads into trans, if I needed to buy another fitting like that what would it be. When I installed the corners on the fitting got roughed up by wrench a little bit.

It's a custom fitting I had made, the wrenching size has been reduced from 1 1/8" to 15/16", and it's shorter. If you bought a off the shelf fitting it would change the calibration of the dipstick, I may be able to send you one if you want one, I should have some extra ones when I get done with the next batch.
