Transmission fluid level

I think it would be fine but I'm no expert. I'd defer to the experts on that one.

It does seem to be more than "snake oil" like a lot of additives are.

If you do it, make sure it is lubeguard platinum.

I got a bottle of it at Auto Zone, to put in mine when I pull the pan and install filter, new pan W/ drain and Mike's dipstick assembly.

Looking forward to that update post! A little catch up here......I dont post much, just a Sleazy watcher LoL. I also just installed my MBS dipstick on my 2020 Lariat with 43k. (bought used 2 years ago with 40k ) Love My Ranger!

First....totally second all props to mike and his amazing dipstick kit! From fit and finish to price you cant do better! if any part of the install was tough it was from fords end.

Second my transmission has been amazing and yes it doesnt get used hard at all. But im in the minority that likes this tranny as mine is acting for now just as it should. I did add the FP tune and I feel the tune and Tranny relearn made it even better!

Now after a few checks I too am sitting right at the 6 plus line. about the 150 to 160 degree area. I am not sure exactly what to do. Ive read before other being right there and maybe this is a full boat at full operating temp and adding anything would be a mistake.

Everthing shifts so good I dont want to mess with it but I feel Like adding a half quart might be good.

Let us know what happens.

Sorry life got busy. I ended up putting in about a half of a quart bottle. All is good now

Since I only ran a few miles to get her up to temp (engine) and I was almost half way between 6 and 5. I think I might be good at full trans temp.

Thanks to RedLandRanger I have an ODII bluetooth adapter coming in this week so I can use an app to check trans temp. Then ill have a better picture.

If im a bit low I may just add some lubeguard Platinum through the dipstick but I have not comfirmed if thats a good idea or not. My trans works so good I hate to mess with it at all.

I agree, I would wait til you can check the temperature to make sure. Then you can compare using the picture and work that TJC did

Have you added any LG at this point?

If no, then it will help keep things working properly.

If yes, as long as you don't go above 1oz per qt total, you'll be fine.

No I haven't added or even bought it yet. Just kinda thinking about it. I always thought these things for for high mile vehicles. What's your thoughts...Here's my sitch....

New to me 2020 lariat. Bought from dealer 2 yrs ago. Added very little miles due to health issues. Always shifted drove perfect....still does. Just installed mbs stick. Trans fluid looks nice light red. Seemed I could be a tad low but realizing I prob wasn't up to trans temp when checked I might be just fine.

All that said would you recommend adding, what is it 8oz of lubeguard platinum, assuming I have all 8 quarts of factory ULV in it currently?

I certainly don't want to gamble with my prize tranny
But if lubeguard certainly would not hurt in any way AND I'm not over filling by adding 8ozs then I would do it ASAP. Just don't know enough about it.

I would add it. If you're at the full mark now, pull out 10oz of fluid and add a 10oz bottle back in. If you're on the low end of full then you could probably add without pulling any fluid out, but as sensitive as 10R's are to being overfilled, I tend to err on the side of being either right on the mark, or even a tiny smidge low.

I think we've mostly proven at this point that it works to keep the valve body functioning properly and adds a small bit of anti wear properties to the fluid, which is nothing but a win in a 10X box.

I believe the trans holds 12 qts of fluid. When I first did mine I used a 15oz bottle, but a 10oz bottle would be ok too. Won't hurt either way.

One thing I've experienced - the level is VERY touchy - you think you need to add a bunch and you do and now you are overfilled. Adding a little bit at a time is the best way to go.

@TJC image of the levels at various temperatures is the best info I've seen. I have that saved on my computer so I can easily refer to it.

Yup! Screenshot 'd it immediately lol. And I'll be testing temp and level a bit before I add plus be prepared to pull some if needed.

But all will have to wait til the "big" noreasters over this weekend..... Please!
