I have read through this and the other max tire size thread and I am seeing conflicting sizes. I have a stock XLT 4x2 with stock 17" sport rims, I think that the 265/70/17 will fit without any modification what so ever. Can someone please confirm.
Thank you in advance.

That is my understanding, those are the tires I am going with. Have heard some have gone with 275's as well with minor modifications.

I installed my new 285/70R17 on 17x9 ET-12 XD holeshots... had to do a little cutting on the front bumber and the new arches i installed, also had to heat up the mudflaps on the front and bend them out of the way .. now has no rubbing .. mine is a UK ranger and has no crashbars from factory so luckily I didnt have those to contend with. I do have a 2" lift and 35mm arches

stock 18's left

Just got the truck. Tires are next. I have a 2.5” leveling kit OTW.
I want the tallest tire with no rubbing.
Anyone running 255/80/R17 what are your thoughts?
Maltese that’s what you are running, correct?

At full lock, I sometimes get some rub in reverse, but it is super minimal and not on the frame. I really do like the setup and the truck is great on long hauls as well as offroad. I've done a large part of the maze district in southern UT as well as some of the reasonable stuff from the back entrance to Arches. I feel like it crawls just fine and this will be my tire size for a long while.

The only thing that has been hard to swallow is the tire weight. It does dull out the truck a bit, but I'd rather not get stuck when I'm out in CA, NV or UT's wilderness :) The spare has the same tire and fits just fine in the stock location. There is a set of wheels from Method that would cut the weight difference and probably make the truck more peppy again, but I'm not sure I want to go aftermarket on wheels.
If you had to do it again, would you go with the same setup or something different?

Likely the same size, maybe a different tire, but I'm really happy with this setup until I figure out how to go to 35's

I'm running 285/65 R18 on mine with 2.5" leveling kit, my rims have a 30 offset
Any rubbing? Did you do anything to crash bars? I'm thinking of 275/65 R18 with +20 offset and 2.5" lift so if yours fit with no issue it would help me decide if i need to buy new intrusion beams or not.
Thanks in advance

Hey guys I’m trying to figure out the correct wheel offset in order not to rub without spacers. Wondering if running either the Icon Rebounds @ 8.5” wide with a 0 offset or the Black Rhino Roku @ 9.5” wide and a +12 offset ( both 17”s) would allow me to not run spacers with a 285/70/17 tire . Anyone have any in-site? I believe the stock wheels have a +55 offset.

I'm running the 17x9.5 ROKU's with 285/70r17 Duratracs and ICON Stage 4 with Billet UCA's. Once crash bars are removed and lower air dams gone you wont rub. The wheel does stick out about 1.5" from the wheel arch now though.

Installed the new Toyo Open Country AT3s, 285/70/17 C with Icon Vector 6 wheels today. BDS intrusion bars replaced in front of the wheel, but the rear-of-wheel intrusion beams are stock. No rubbing with ~1" clearance in front at lock and ~1/4" in back.

Side note: will be selling the stock 18" set in San Diego.

These look awesome! I'm looking at the same setup but in 285/75. What offset did you go with the Icon wheels? Do they sit flush with the wheel arch?

Yeah, we were looking at the 285/75/17 AT3s as well but decided to go for the ~33" 285/70s. Went with offset of 25 on the wheels to get max clearance in case we tried to fit the 75s.

Not sure exactly how much the BDS bars that go behind the wheel increase clearance but an extra 1/2" in tire radius won't clear the stock rear beams.

They're slightly outside but not by too much (see pic).
