Hey guys, I'm looking at tires since I'm close to pulling the trigger on a lift. I've settled for 275/70r18. And I was hoping we could turn this into a thread of what tires people have and their review of them!

Cheers!

You can definitely get lost in all of the tires, I started looking at Falken wildpeaks, than really liked what I heard of the genre grabber ATXs so when I went to buy them they were on back order. So they gave me my choice of wildpeaks and Toyo AT3s. There were more but I didn’t pay attention to them. I did some research and figured I’d give Toyos a chance so I went with the open country AT3’s. So far i am happy with the On road performance. I don’t have many miles on them but at this point if they last and continue to Perform I will look at them again. If not I’ll go general next time.

I went with the Bridgestone Dueler Revo 3's in 265/70/17. Overall I have to say its a good tire. For on road it's fairly quite for the most part. For offroad it handles a lot of tough stuff. How is it in snow? Its ok but then again it's an all terrain, not a snow tire. Did people question me when I went to the Bridgestone tires? You bet they did but that is due to the old Explorer and Firestone Fiasco year ago that @P. A. Schilke remembers.

Back onto the subject. Even though it is an odd tread pattern it is a good tire. Fuel mileage didnt take a big hit, traction is good both on and offroad. I have had a sharp jagged rock poke the side wall quite a bit and the tire did just fine.

Will I go with this tire again? Probably not but thats because I feel the Firestone Destination XT will be a better tire for my habits.

Hope this helps.

I got the Falken Wildpeak AT3W's in 265/70r17 and so far I really like them. I haven't done much offroading with them, but I have driven quite a bit in the snow and they're great in the snow. Good grip when stopping. Quiet on the highway, good tread wear.

Looking at the tread, they look decent for snow with the Sipes. One thing to know is that any real offroad tires suck in winter. They may be fine for the first few years but they will get worse and worse even if snowflake rated. I am going to use my winters for winter, but I'll get some hybrid tires for summer. I've been looking at nitto ridge grappler which I might be able to get through my work. I wanted to see what everyone was running. I'm always open to new ideas if they fit what I need. I do highway and city a lot but like to go ham offroad (mud pits, Rock crawling, dirt trails.) Winter I'll just use my winters to offroad.

The sipes do look good when new but after some wear the sipes go away. Its a pain but its what it is.

I have had the bfgoodrich all terrains on my old ranger. Numerous family members have had them on any and all off road vehicles. Apples and oranges here but I burned through the factory yokohamas in 14k miles on an evo 9 i owned and went to falkens and they held up great so i would totally give the falkens a shot if for some reason the bfgoodrich was not an option.

I'm using Cooper AT3 XLT 265/70/18. I really like them so far. More aggressive than stock tires, but didn't notice an increase in noise. They do make the ride a bit more rough, because they are an E rated tire, but nothing too bad.
Fyi: Canadian Tire has the Wrangler Duratracs 25% off for the next couple days.

I went with Pirelli Scorpion AT Plus for the snow. They worked great. The Sierras had a decent dump of snow a few weeks back. The tires never missed a beat.

bfgoodrich KO2. Easy to balance even at 35”. Held the balance after thousands of miles. No where near as noisy as a MT. Excellent performance off-road. The sidewall has thick rubber lugs for off-road protection when aired down. The thread design is boring looking compared to other flashy looking competition but I would not hesitate to buy them again. Thread wear lasted a long time. Minor chunking after 20,000 miles but I went off-road often and in the desert the rocks are razor sharp.

I run Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus in 265/70/17. Probably I am the only one around here. They are fantastic, quiet, grippy, even in winter (although I run dedicated winter tires, but I've tried them) and they are load C. I was going to get KO2s but I could only find them in load E, which would have made the ride even worse. They also look good, different but on par with the ever popular KO2, imho.

This is the exact approach I intend to take with my truck when it gets delivered in May. The Ridge Grapplers are on the top of my list as well, but also considering Toyo Open Country AT3. I have about a week left to decide before I order wheels and tires. Seems either would be a great option.

I will say the Michelin Latitude X-Ice XI2 were amazing in the snow. Confidence inspiring. You could brake and it felt like braking on dry pavement. Mileage was the same as the oem hankooks.

So I've been researching this for weeks and finally decided to pull the trigger on the Firestone Destination XTs in a 255/75R17. They'll fit perfect with the Fox 2.0 lift, are a bit taller and are a 6-ply tire plus they are 5 lbs lighter than the 265/70R17 version. The 265 are a 10 ply which is why they are heavier which means they will also ride rougher. I think the height of these are 32.1 versus 31.6 with the 265 version.
