Ticking (but loud)

I know ECFI ticks and I Know what that sounds like I’ve had the truck for a little while now however this level of sound seems off what do you think? (I attached a video.. hmm give me 1 sec)

Yeah, that noise seems different. How cold did it get down your way last night? I wonder if the weather effected it? Did it still do it after warming up?

After swapping out my headlights this past weekend I had the truck running with the hood open and noticed that as well. Mine seemed to be slower (idle speed maybe) but same ticking.
Cant really hear in from inside the truck.

Sounds like a direct injection gas motor running from what I can hear.

Yep, normal. As stated. The direct injection makes all kinds of noises.
Mine sounds the same.

Close the hood and it will be quieter....?

It's normal bro, mine sounds the same. The pulse width on the fuel injectors along with the high pressure fuel pump is noisy as hell for sure. Someone please post a vid of the Lariat cover on. Wonder how much quieter it is with the hood open and that expensive azz foam on top of the engine.

Mine does that too. First time I had the engine running with the hood open I was seriously thinking WTF. Not really noticeable with the hood closed.

There's another thread about this noise getting particularly loud inside the cabin. There was a video demonstrating it inside.

I experienced it myself but only for a week or two, and it's been gone since.

Not sure what it's about.. but it was certainly concerning.

Sounds like normal Direct Injection High Pressure Fuel Pump noise to me. Usually noisier on cold start due to early fuel enrichment to get the converters up to temperature.

That's a DI engine for ya. They are noisy little beasts. Listening to my 08 VW GTI idle and you'd swear it had a 24v Cummins turbo diesel under the hood...

mine sound louder than that. same sound. i call my engine the sewing machine.... sounds like one and about the same size lol. oh ford and the ticking... ticking is still a sore subject among the mustang crowd.

Mine sounds like that on cold start, then gets a lot quieter

IDK guys sounds like a rattle to me. Look around the engine bay for anything loose or touching something?
