Spotted a Ranger with flames on the hood

I'm more curious with what is going on here where the tow hooks should be and that loop thing hanging down below the license plate.

When I was growing up, the mid-70's oil embargo and then emission controls had already put the final nails in the coffin of the muscle car and hot rod eras. But we still saw plenty driving around. I never did understand the hood & front fender flames, which were hand painted back in those days. Some of the artwork was truly amazing, especially on low riders.

But...why would you want your vehicle to look like you were in the midst of a fuel-line-meets-hot-manifold emergency? I've done that, and it's not a good excitement.

Graphics? The only outward appearance item I added (actually removed) was the EcoBoost plaque on the tailgate. It now says, EcoBeast! Everything else I spent, went under the hood. Surprise!
