I did a quick search and didn’t seem to find much on installing a plow. There is someone in my town who has a ranger with a little western defender plow attached and I was looking to see if anyone on here has done it. I understand this truck is not designed for this, but in a non commercial setting the little plowing I would do should be alright. Im looking at buying a cheaper used one 3/4 years old. The western defender plow has a kit for the Ranger only thing is that it requires a counterweight in the rear.
Also seems to me the City of White Plains NY has outfitted their 3/4 rangers with plow setups as well. I’ve seen a total of 4/5 rangers with plows.

Really there is no truck that is designed for ploughing (or any other service vehicle either) but there is nothing inherently complex about fitting one for that purpose. Solid frame and 4x4 is really all that is required, additional weight may not be needed depending on amount and type of work.

In no way would I feel comfortable attaching a plow to a frame as thin as the rangers.

Ford also doesn't reccomend.

You do you though.

I would never mount a plow to a Ranger. My plow truck is a 1972 Dodge W200 (3/4 ton) Power Wagon. I have beefed up EVERYTHING from factory and still break things and wear things out faster. I only plow myself out and live in rural North Dakota.

Just what kind of plowing do you intend to do?

Like a small driveway or two in moderate snow fall(3-9" not-wet)? I would probably look for the smallest duty plow, a sin poly/plastic blades, cause these frames are like paper.

I’m looking to plow under 12” figure half that wet. And just some family maneuvers driveway. A non commercial aspect.

Being from the NE and all the years of plowing I would not use my Ranger for this purpose. Turbo or not it’s only a four banger and our transmissions are not the beefiest out there. You might get away with it though. You planning on a tow hitch mount on the front and light weight pusher plow? I know there have been threads on here about front tow hitches.

I saw the threads on the pusher plows. I was thinking more specifically the western defender plow.

Hi everyone ,
I would like to have some info if possible.

Im looking to buy the 2023 ranger ,
Is that possible install the front plow?
Does it come with the front and rear hitch or need to install aftermarket?
About the front electrical , do it have it , or also need installed?

Thanks a lot

Check the Owner’s Manual - I recall it saying not to use this truck to plough snow.

Always possible. You can easily fabricate something that attaches to the frame where your bumber attaches or attaches where your front tow hooks attach.

You’re not likely to find an out of the box, bolt-on solution that doesn’t require customization, but you never know. If you do, post about it in the forum for those who might have similar needs.

One of these or put a plow on your ATV or UTV as I see your in Maine you likely have one of the two.

I have a snow blower like this that mounts on my lawn tractor, and it is AWESOME!!! I don't have a cab, I just wear a hooded jacket, and always clear with the wind so it's not bad. My driveway is 110 feet, double wide. I run the full length, lift the head and reverse up the driveway, drop the head and go again. With hydro-static, and reverse mode engaged, I don't have to engage/disengage the blower each pass, I leave it running the whole time. Without turning 180 degrees each pass, it's fast and never face the wind. Even with a foot of snow, I get the whole driveway, walkways, detail work, widen the entrance, and clear the left side road shoulder for 50' (so less gets ploughed back in) in about 20-30 minutes.

Nice - I was thinking of using my lawn tractor for that when I lived in NB but I moved here before it came to be. Do use use chains and weights Jay?
