I thought I saw a photo not long ago of someone mounting a plow on their new Ranger. Looking at Fisher's Website I notice they have two options listed for the Ranger, a Homesteader plow 6'8" and a 7'2". Wondering if anyone else had any luck. I know I've seen articles about it not working.

I know there's a concern of the plow blocking the air for the radiator, which is a concern for all Ecoboost engines, including the F-150. But I've heard that most agree that it would only be an issue if you have the plow on all the time including daily driving. Otherwise just putting it on to plow quick, and then taking it off shouldn't be an issue in that regard.

Dont know if Hilltip is available in the US, but the Company next door to us just mounted a snow plow on a 2019 ranger a few months ago.

I know the Company that uses it to remove snow from rural train stations around here. I think they drive around 200km with them every day so they dont have any problems with cooling. This is a diesel tho, but seeing as its used in cold weather i cant imagine it would be a big problem.

Hey all, really like the Ranger but dealer says putting on a plow 'voids the warranty.' I was going to put on my 80" Fisher Homesteader that's worked like a charm for my driveway. Should I just go for it? Since I'm only plowing my own drive, at low speed, can't imagine an air intake problem. But if something breaks and I need the warranty I don't want to hear, "sorry, no luck, plow's fault." I'm tempted to risk it but don't want to get burned. It won't be hard for them to tell I have plow gear attached. How have others dealt with this?

It's not a Ranger but we installed an Hilltip snow plow on an Isuzu Dmax, it's expensive ! but looks solid ! We only use it to plow the garage parking.

Perhaps buy a tractor to plow with and save your truck. Just a thought. I plow mine with a bx kubota and an old 6' rear blade. Use the endloader sometimes too. Used tractors can be had for decent price.

Owners manual says don’t plow with a Ranger however I’ve seen a handful with plow setups. Sometimes you need a smaller vehicle for certain properties and I’ve considered it for in the future when my truck is more beat up but commercial plowing will destroy a truck. The frame, suspension components and brake lines will all begin to rot within just a few years from driving around constantly on salt covered roads.

Hi Chris,

What kills trucks is hitting parking bumpers at speed as well as salt.... Plow Trucks have a very hard and short life...

Best,
Phil

Pretty sure the homesteader plows just use a front hitch to mount to truck. A co work of mine had one on an old f150, definitely just for your driveway no way I would even try to use it at a commercial level. I have used the SnoSport plows with great results too, just only for the driveway nothing more.

One of these or put a plow on your ATV or UTV as I see your in Maine you likely have one of the two.

As far as I know Ford didn't say "it's an air intake problem", that was a theory someone put out. Alternate theories would be stuff like "sensors will be all screwed up" or "the electrical system can't handle the load" or "the front end is designed to crumple in an impact, so if you attach a plow to it and the plow impacts something you're going to be really unhappy with the result".
