As far as HVAC, just set to desired temp and let it do the work. The only button I ever hit is MAX Defrost, then back to auto.
A lot of variance between individuals sense of temp changes and comfort as well as some variance in the ability of these systems to maintain a constant temp . I tend to be sensitive to temp changes and frequently adjust the temp controls and find it can be a distraction, albeit momentary from the road. My experience with these auto systems goes back to 1986 and the best of the lot was in a 1991 Taurus SHO - one of the few things that didn't have issues on that car. Had a few sub zero days in Denver and found myself having to raise the temp level several degrees to maintain a comfort level.

I rather like the separate controls for heat and AC. I always turn it into a refrigerator on the passenger side just to play with the wife! ? Because I can!... I know the payback is always a B, but still fun!!!

You can feel where the selector is right?

Three or four clicks down and you're where you want to be. Up two or three to back into a spot, up one to get out.

Pretty simple.

You can even feel by the release button if you're in in D or S. In S the button is slightly depressed.

As far as HVAC, just set to desired temp and let it do the work. The only button I ever hit is MAX Defrost, then back to auto.
If I'm not mistaken, you can't shift from P to S in one shot anyway so just yank'r back until it won't go anymore and you'll end up in D. When parking, do the opposite. When reversing, either one back from P or 2 forward from D, like most vehicles for decades.

That being said.. would be nice if they just lit the damn thing lol

Yep.

If I need visual verification it's on the dash. It would be nice, sure. But it's hardly an "issue."

Had my 2021 Lariat for a month now. Never noticed, but the shift indicator does not light up.

I recall reading that the word Ranger on the rocker panel was illuminated with the illumination package? Does anyone have that and does it work? Mine does not.
I think my voice command works with phone connected. One quick push of the voice button uses the truck voice command and a long press of the voice button works the phone voice command. I haven’t tried the climate control but it works my radio just fine.

My 2020 Lariat gear selection "glows" (looks like glow-in-the-dark material) but it doesn't light up with what gear I'm in.

Brand new 2021 XLT.. but are there really no gear position indicator lights on this thing?? Or a burnt bulb maybe? Dash indicator works perfect.. but...

Look on the instrument panel above the steering wheel..... that's where the gear selection indicator is.

Looking at the floor while driving is, well, not a great idea.

They removed them, maybe after 2019

My 2019 doesn't have illuminated gear numbers at the shifter.

Be happy... the gear selection is on the dash, where it's easily seen. Logical, and proportional.

Lol.. wasn't expecting that.. but that's how she goes I guess.

Cheers!
My 2019 lit up. I think when they when stopped putting the Ecoboost emblems on the tailgate they discontinued the back lighted shifter as well. Penny pinching by Ford.

there was never a position indicator next to the shifter, only on the dash. there were lit up letters, which were useless.
