Hi Peter

Clearly a quality issue with the supplier of this part. Warranty should cover without any hassle. If not, file a formal complaint with Ford Customer Care and find another dealer.

The supplier has to demonstrate process capability and somehow in the manufacturing finish process something went wrong.

Sorry to see you have a cosmetic problem such this that should never have happened.

Best,

I’m on my 3rd warranty claim on this same part. I live in Los Angeles and seems like one corrodes each year. Have had no issues with warranty. They have to pull the headliner each time they have to replace the trim

Most definitely corroded underneath like mine during warranty claim.
It’s the aluminum cap corroding. Have replaced the left front, right front and now put in for the left front again. Each one seems like it lasts about a year before it starts corroding.

As long as were talking about the plastic trim on our Rangers, we were weren't we, I have a question. My ranger sits out in the California sun all day, what are the recommendations for maintaining the plastic trim on our trucks?

Lot of folks recommend using 303 Protectant on plastics in the sun.

at the risk of implicating myself in this gravedug thread....

These trim pieces are 1 time use and not cheap to replace. Mine had to come off a few months ago when I got the roof repaired, never bothered to replace them. One day I'll do a roof rack that mounts into that slot.

The dealer just called. After looking at the truck, they are ordering in a driver's front corner and driver's rear corner drip rail trim piece. In addition, they are ordering new lower window moldings for the driver and passenger side windows due to severe fading.

I wonder if 303 protectant will help to slow this process down? Maybe that + a rubber conditioner.

Anyone have the contact info to ford customer care. My claim for the roof trim was denied. My 3 year warranty is expired and the 5 year corrosion warranty does not cover them.

I was just told that by my rep as well. I managed to make my claim for roof trim days before my warranty (3 year) expires. Basically the 5 year warranty only covers rust that has made a hole on panels.

You would think that this problem was accusing while I still had my 3 year warranty. Our son is a ford engineer he has a website he can put complaints in for friends and family I'll go that route first. I will not be returning to that dealer anymore. Left 3 messages with the service advisor never called me back. When I called him out on that he told me he was a busy guy. What a dick

It's only good business to return calls. That's why they won't get my business anymore.

Justin, I've been using the 303 Graphene Nano Spray on mine. It looks like it works because mine still looks new and when I'm working it bakes in 110+ temps all day.
