Yeah, people need to realize, they can’t do this anymore…

They just replaced mine last week, washed the truck and water was coming out of the headliner in the back. Time for them to fix it and get a new headliner cause now it’s stained. It’s on them!
Damn that would piss me off big time. Quality and fit of these trim pieces are about worst I have ever seen. That's my perspective anyway after owning about a dozen vehicles in the past Love the motor & tranny combo tho.

Just had this roof trim replaced under warranty by my dealer.

My running boards started chipping too. Right where they connect to the truck. I had to buy some black touch up paint to fix the chips.

I did not fix the roof trim either. Just painted the silver metal black again. Was afraid to have them mess with the head liner.

First of all, thank you Ranger Forum.
Damnit this is infuriating. I just noticed a stain on my headliner over the drivers side C-pillar. 2020 Ranger XLT Super Cab. It’s garaged, but sat out in the rain the last storm San Diego had. I searched the forum for similar issues and find out Ford knows about this. Now I have to trust the dealer will repair correctly and not happen again. My 2000 F-150 leaked at the rear slider, which was common, and I’m not happy having a new truck that rains inside when it’s raining outside!!

Was washing my Ranger today and noticed the plastic trim on the roof deteriorating and breaking off. Anyone have this problem? I've owned the 2019 for less than a year.

I noticed that in late December of 21 and as we were moving out of the area, I just covered the flaked area with touch up paint. I looked again recently and noticed that more of the plastic has flaked off. Has anybody taken this ta dealer to get it repaired?

So far after 2 replacements on the left side trim and one on the right, no more corrosion! Finally got a good set and it’s been over a year since it was warranted.

I’ve had 1 set of rails replaced under warranty for a 2019 Ranger and paint is peeling again on one of the replacements. Dealer will replace the rail for $600+. That’s probably throwing good money after bad. Gonna try a body shop.

Mine has been peeling for over a year now and it started on one side and finally went to the other side, too.
I bought rustoleum black paint and put it over the aluminum and it has not peeled off.

I never wanted to chance the Cab leaking.

Thx for the tip. Maybe I’ll try that first.

I have a 2020 black XLT with 28k on it. Bumper to Bumper expired back in February. I have the same roof rail peeling on both side issue pop up this summer. My dealership is telling me these are not body panels but trim pieces and therefore are not covered under the 5 year aluminum panel warranty. Anyone have any useful ammo to fight back with?

For what its worth I have never had a positive experience with Noller Ford standing behind their product and generally avoid my local dealership whenever possible.

I'm having the same issues with my 2019 Ranger Lariat. It started on the rear driver-side trim and has now started on the front passenger side. I first noticed it this summer and am planning on getting it looked at by the dealership very soon. Such a shame that this is even happening.

some get lucky and get replacements under warranty.
Mine have done it this year. I'm just going to fix it with some paint before winter sets in. Perhaps some brush on tremclad, or spray on rubberized. Not worth my time and effort to open up the headliner and replace with new.
