On my ‘19 Ranger I replaced the left roof molding by the windshield due to corrosion under the black paint about a year ago. And 2 months ago noticed the right side was doing the same.So had that replaced 2 wks ago. Now I noticed the left side is corroding again. This is crazy. Anyone having the same issue? I’m in SoCal so it doesn’t rain much.
I recall a few posts on this last year - one might have been yours. I think you should officially report this to Ford Customer Service and get it documented. It seems like something they might need to address longer term.

It sucks that it happened again.

*runs out to the garage to check his own

Yup mine is doing the same. I think the car wash helped rip it off.

Mine bake in the sun here while I'm at work and they both are fine. I do coat them with Graphene which helps protect them and has great UV properties. Make sure you have a good coat of wax or try the Graphene on them and it should take care of the issue.
Seems like it’s corroding under the powder coat

That really sucks. Mine are OK and I live near the ocean. I do clean them with a detailer all the time so maybe that helps.

Paint warranty will fix it . Don't let them use a lot monkey. If they don't have their own paint and body shop, make sure it goes to a paint and body shop for warranty. I saw a lot monkey at the dealership where I got mine spray painting a whole door (with all the trim removed) outside in a field.
These are the same idiots trying to get me to trade in my truck instead of using the lemon law. I finally shut him up by saying why would I take a loss trading my vehicle in when Ford will just give me everything back for it. Freaking scum bags.

Without a picture it's hard to tell. Is there rust or is it peeling like in @OC4095 picture? If it's like the picture it's weathering and needs some protection on there. Without any UV protection it'll continue to peel.

I have the same issue on the driver side. It's the top front half of the small piece that curves over towards the back window. I need to take it in for that and the lower front window moldings that have faded badly.

Is SPF 100 sufficient for our Rangers? ?
Reminds me of the Chevy Luminas and other GM cars of that era with the peeling paint.

Is it just the ditch molding or the actual cab paint?

This happened to my truck about a year into ownership. Dealer wouldn't do anything for me since there was no 'perforation to the panel', as stated in the corrosion warranty... They were happy to let me know how much they would cost if I wanted to order them, though.

At some point I will attempt to clean the bare aluminum up and seal/paint them and see how it works out. I would imagine you'd have to drop the headliner to get access to replace them, something which I'd rather not do.
