Aside from the flat tires, great looking truck!

Road hazard insurance?

That really sucks, but on the bright side at least you didn't get any body damage.

I once saw a car run over one of the recap truck tire carcasses and it destroyed the fender.

lost brake pressure on the truck.
a rock crushed and split the brake line. fixed it temporarily with a golf tee.
OK.. So you got to explain how you Macgyver'd that one.

i cut the line off flush
jammed the gold tee into it, then did two folds of the line.
the folds greatly reduce the pressure the golf tee had to hold back.
i filled with borrowed brake fluid and it held up
Nice fix. ? It would never have occurred to use a golf tee.

This is the reason I had the dealer throw in a second spare when I bought the truck…I always carry 2 and am on the road a lot. Only happened twice, but it cost me time and lots of money.

And it seems like road debris is getting worse every year.

Always keep a small set of vice grips in the glove box. On more than one occasion cut, crimped and folded broken or leaking brake lines that were toast. Off roading 101 hacks

thats sucks.

reminds me of one trip i had to do into the gas fields of Alberta...

Rental Dodge Ram, and a tent trailer.

got a flat on the trailer. put on the spare.
drove a bit and the lugs came loose. tightened again and drive a few more km.
got another flat.

left the trailer and continued to camp.
lost brake pressure on the truck.
a rock crushed and split the brake line. fixed it temporarily with a golf tee.
headed back to town the next day to fix the trailer tires (all three, spare included). and get the brake line fixed on the truck

found broken studs on 3 wheels. one had two gone.

got tires fixed. got truck fixed. headed back to get trailer and get it into camp.

Had another brake failure on the way. same issue......fucking Dodge shit.
What luck... finding a golf tee in the gas fields of Alberta !!

I tore the rear brake lines off of a 95 Buick Regal, when we rolled it playing off-road. It was destined for the demo derby if it survived long enough, but didn't make it. To get it home I ran the right rear brake line, back into the left rear master cylinder port, and had no rear brakes. Of course because of ABS the brake lines had different fittings, so we had to cross thread the cylinder the get the fitting in.

Not one, but two tires....happy days.

If you know what/when/where etc, it may be worth a call to the police, and local Roads Department to check for info on what may have led to this. Lots of possibilities that may come with "at fault" of someone else, and help off-set your costs.

I'll post pictures shortly, but it was a piece of angle iron that blew the front, causing the truck to hit the curb in the back and take out the rear, and tear up the rim.

Last night, I found a NTO (New Take Off) set of STX Special Edition rims at a dealer supplier, complete with TPMS and center caps, and the Hankook AT-M tires, for $600. Picked them up this morning!

So, I plan on keeping one for a full size spare, and will soon have two good rims, one scuffed rim, and one Bridgestone HT tire with 3500 miles available on the market place for full size spare tire use.

When I was driving my Honda Accord with tires at almost end of the life. A car ahead of me swerve quickly cuz of an object on the road and it looked very sharp. Ended up running into it with left tires - I thought for sure my tires would be done.. but nope, took it like a champ, it was Michelin brand.

On my last car I had about a 2" chunk of 2x4 destroy my tire at 20mph as I turned down my street. Damn low profile tires.

Hit a segment of truck tire retread that came off in front of me in traffic once with my previous car(‘17 Cherokee Trailhawk). It slung up under the tire, destroying a corner of the front bumper in the process, ripped out the parking proximity sensor wiring, shredded the tire, and who know what all other sensors. For an “off-road” marketed vehicle it sure was fragile and unprotected… Probably would have never happened to a real Cherokee from the early 2000’s.
