I was scoping out the firewall but the whole climate system is on the other side of it. Don’t want to be adding fasteners that could potentially be a problem. Now that it’s warming up where I am I can get out there and poke around and figure out the best place that will use a mounting spot that’s already there that has some other use and capitalize on it. Get a mounting bracket cobbled up and then make some drawings. Prototypes is step 1. Then we will see where that takes us.
The very top up just below the rubber hood gasket should be ok, but in any case, you coud just JB Weld it. It isnt a heavy item or something that needs to be boltted.

I haven't pulled mine yet, but this does not look like the pattern I've been seeing in posts here for our Rangers.

It is very confusing that Ford appears to use different dipstick marking and fluid levels for what is supposedly the same transmission in different vehicle models.

As I said before, no wonder they can’t get the levels right from the factory.

I took this pattern off the plastic insert piece pictured. Did not compare to the one in my truck. But now that you say that… ?

I am seeing over 50 who want a reasonably priced dipstick. Vendors? Anyone...?!?!

Take "some" of my money!??!?!?!??!?!?
None have chimed in...shiny oil caps are more useful...

The 6R80 takes the same pan and b&m trans dip stick.

With that said....my '18 E450 motorhome has a 6R80....and it's own normal trans dip stick...?
Be careful here. The 6R80 may use the same B&M dipstick but it does not use the same pan as the 10R80.

If someone could figure out if the screw that connects to the pan is removable, it can just be a simple swap out to a more affordable option. Find a suitable replacement that fits the threads at an auto parts or hardware store, then attach that to the tube that is 1/5th the price of B&M. Just a thought...?

Find a replica of this part.

Swap it with this part, voila?

Ok part number for factory dip stick cap and plug is JL1Z-7A010-A 1X

If you look closely on the second photo you can see a green fiber washer used for sealing. It is undercut on the Aluminum cap so the edge of the cap hits the Transmission case and keeps from squeezing the washer past its max compression point to splitting.

I also ordered this part, it very different than the one in my Ranger, I would not model this dipstick without verifying it's same as the one in your truck.

Interesting, started doing more digging and although the Ranger and F150 use the same transmission the dipsticks are different. For what ever reason the part number they list fitting in the Ranger is actually for the F150!

Look at that, Ford thought "we can get away with just one replacement dipstick"

And the one in the picture doesn't even match the graphic from the manual. Way to go Ford!

So, same tranny and same pan in both vehicles, but different dippysticks, which look like they have different markings.
So, who's too know what the right amount of fluid goes in our Rangers ? Maybe the F-150 stick should be in the Ranger, or the Ranger's in the F-150 ?
What do the tranny builders do...just grab a stick out of a bin and hope for the best ???
Curious as to what the 10 speed 10R60 in the Bronco and Explorer dippysticks look like ???
And then there's the 10R80-MHT.......WHAAAAAT !!!
Even Yoda say's.....
What the frack !!!!!

RETIRED!
I wonder if it has anything to do with the angle that the engine & transmission sit in the different model vehicle?
