Got mine in the mail today finally. It's a v3 and it looks like they went away from an rj45 so if you need an extension you're stuck buying it from them. Didn't measure it but it looks like it's 3 feet or so of wire to get to what you get

So that’s not the Ford unit correct? From what I’ve read through all the threads you really need the additional module Ford’s package has to ensure that your AEB woks in conjunction with the trailers brakes?

@DanaBovender this is not the ford unit. This was purchased from etrailer. I tow maybe once a year so not a huge deal to me. My thought is that if the AEB kicks in my foot would probably be on the brake a second later.

The point of AEB is to act before you can or when you cannot... But I took a look and it seems you can turn off AEB from the dash. Probably good idea to do that when towing with a non Ford bake controller.

yeah I thought the same, then I figured WTH, $70 more for my piece of mind.
I don’t tow much either but we’ve been considering a travel trailer so I purchased the Ford unit and will do the installation at home. BTW one second vs. $70 is not worth taking a chance for my family's safety in my opinion.

@oggvorbis do you remember which fuse you tapped in the engine bay for the "Ignition wire" (Light blue wire)?

And white "Lights" wire? Says to tap into parking lights, not sure how to determine the proper wire and fuses to do this.

The rest seems easy enough, but little stuck on that. Thanks!

Sorry for just getting back to you @Bzmustang13 Hopefully you got it all squared away, but for myself you can use any Ign fuse in the driver's side fuse box. For my install I used #23. For the white "lights" wire, I tapped imto the driver's front side marker.

Thanks, ended up doing the same, but didn't tap into the "Lights" wire, just combined with power wire into fuse 35 (Ignition only) in the cab.

Note for future installers, the Switch-pro comes with an ATM fuse tap. My '20 Ranger is all Micro2 2 &3 prongs, so I had to go get my own fuse tap and used a 5 amp fuse for the SP. They ship with a 2a ATM fuse and I could not find a 2a Micro2, so confirmed with SP that a 5 is fine (This may be simple knowledge for some of you, but I am learning as I go).

Have not wired my accessories yet, or driven at night with the SP in the cabin, but not wiring the lights wire seems to be fine without any auto-dimming. I keep it pretty dim via the app.

RedArc's unit does not support AEB or ACC as it only takes in the brake pedal signal as the trigger to act. Ford's unit is just the RedArc unit packaged with an additional module by Lumen, which provides a taillight signal as the trigger to act, instead of a brake pedal signal.

Unfortunately running the wire from the Lumen module to the rear of the cab ends up being 99% of the work. But others have discovered that you can avoid that by tapping into an alternate location near the fuse box (sorry I don't have links atm).

I'm about to install the Ford controller and I have been pushing it off because I hate the idea of having to run that wire to the third brake light. I must have missed a post or two. What wire have others tapped into to avoid having to run the wire? Near the fuse box?
