I checked all the videos I could find and the installation looks doable to me, but I have a few questions for anyone who has already done this job, and I really appreciate your feedback.
- I found the 4 truck wires without too much trouble but man are they short. To find them was one thing but being able to work on them looks light a nightmare. It looks impossible trying to get in and get a wire stripper to them, and then connecting them somehow to the brake controller wires. How did you make room to do it? Was it necessary to take out the seat?
- What's the best way to connect? A couple of the wires are really lighter gage compared to the brake controller. Do I butt splice, use wire nuts, solder? Has anyone put the 4 wires into a connector and then put the mating connector on the brake controller wires?
- The truck wires are blue, white, violet, and yellow w/ orange trace. What colors are the brake controller wires and how do they match up to the truck wires?
- Did you mount the control knob on the console or on the instrument panel?
