Hello fellow Ranger enthusiasts, my 2020 xl stx was slammed into from behind while it was parked and I am wondering if the frame survived the impact. It hasn't been inspected yet but I would loke some opinions so I can be ready for the possibility that I have lost my truck. Parked on a residential street with a speed limit of 35, it was smashed into by a drunk driver in a dodge Charger going maybe 60 to 70 mph. It was pushed about 20 feet from where it was parked. The dodge is a total disaster but when I looked at my truck it looked like a typical read ending that was not as fast as you would think. An officer said he thought the right rear tire looked like it was tilting inward but in the dark I couldn't tell. I didn't drive it to prevent further damage before an adjuster could look at it. The bed did hit the cab but it was not permanently pushed it to it, it still had its normal gap after the impact. All opinions are appreciated and the blunt truth is always respected by me so please speak your thoughts..

I agree that sucks! Really hard to say with the nighttime pics. Looks like most of the impact was to the passenger side. So yeah the frame is probably twerked. The fact it was pushed that far, while parked, means possibly the rear differential and maybe the transmission may be affected.

Lucky you weren't in it, would have been a wild ride.

Drunk drivers are the worst! I'm very sorry for you. I understand your concern. If i had to guess one way or another I'd guess frame damage. That charger looks like it was hauling ass.
I agree and he probably walked away with just a hang over and a big ticket.

Glad that you are okay. I'm sorry about your truck. From what I can see from the pictures, the way that the bumper is bent up and the bed was pushed into the back of the cab. It probably has some frame damage. Again, glad you are okay.
That sucks dude.

It doesn't take much to tweek/bend a frame when getting hit like that from the rear. My '19 was hit at a low speed (20-25 mph) and it bent the rear frame and ended up totaling the truck. Just glad you weren't injured which is what matters the most.

Yeah, the car was going very fast and there were absolutely no breaks hit at all. My truck was parked where her car is in the photo. I would guess 60 or so. She hit two other vehicles on her way to mine. She clipped the mirror of one then ripped the left read tire and all off the other vehicles then used my truck to stop instead of her breaks. All the cars hit where from our friends superbowl party. Parts from her front end were stuck in the bed and bumper of the truck. I was about a month away from installing front and red end baja style bumpers which I feel would have done a better job of protecting the truck. The guy throwing the party owns a towing company so he currently has our vehicles safe in his lot. Fingers crossed its not totaled because I was upside down still owing about 3k more then its current value. I have gap ins but when all is said and done I will end up penniless and truckless 😪

The driver was a 70 year old woman who kept saying " I thought I was ok to drive". She went in an ambulance probably to avoid going to jail. Cops said they can tell she was toasted. Who let Gramdma take the car that can go 100 in 6 seconds anyways. I wonder if I can sue who ever let her drive?????? I think if she was at an establishment, they might be held accountable. When I ran restaurants we were always told that we had to prevent an intoxicated individual from driving away. And if we had knowledge of their intoxication we could be sued. Does anyone know about that?

I bent a frame on a honda accord when I slid off the road in snow and hit a rock. That was 45 years ago and the repair shop was able to realign the frame, but lets be real, it's a crap shoot. In my case I traded the car and moved on.

Wish you the best, but I'd probably look for an exit route.

Frames can be straightened to a certain extent, hopefully you're not beyond the point of no return. The fact that the box bounced back close to its normal position is a good sign. I also think that the Dodge sustained much of its damage smashing the other 2-3 cars on the way to yours.

Hoping you have good success resolving this. Please keep us updated, Orlando.
