Got rear ended on the highway in my 2020 Lariat ranger, thoughts if it will be totaled?

Almost happened to me on the FL I-10. Luckily, the driver swerved into the median and around me at last second. I blame distracted drivers 99% of the time now.
Good luck with this!
This guy was definitely distracted. I have the dash cam footage from the car behind the guy that caused the accident. He was accelerating for 15 seconds + without braking. Then hit the brakes for less than one second before impact on us (we were stopped). The worst part was that it had been stop and go for 15 minutes. So I have no clue what he was thinking.

He got charged with reckless driving

Well shit, sucks but hopefully it all works out in the end with a new truck. Hopefully a trouble free 10r80 or 10r60 like the other poster said.

Thanks for sharing your experience, I may be in a similar boat here, will update with my results.
Shit, I hope you get the outcome you want. Were you hurt at all?

Nah, truck is just a bit messed up, but it was a non event. Hopefully you didn't get any whiplash from the rear ending. Better to be in a truck for those cases I think.

Seems like your experience was relatively painless so I'm hoping for the same!

Would rather have another ranger than anything else on the market for the price, but we'll see.

Well gentleman, the wait is over. I've received the insurance quote to repair the truck. The total repair cost is ~26K. I'm hoping they'll write it off now. Just waiting for the call from insurance for them to hopefully say it's written off.
Glad you're alright which is the most important thing! When I had my accident in my '19 it didn't look like much at first and IIRC the estimated repair costs were less than yours and they totaled it. They also factor in unforeseeable repairs which would've brought mine well over the totaled amount. As bad as I hated to part with it I'm glad it was totaled and not having to deal with any future issues was a blessing too. Good luck and let us know what you end up getting.

🤔 Maybe a Ranger Raptor. 😁

Just a heads up to some of the folks watching this thread - OP is in Canada so the dollar figures being thrown around need to be put in context.

$26K CAD repair bill is about $19K USD.

Price for a used 2020 Lariat FX4 is ~$35K CAD or $25K USD

Yes, you are correct. I should have stated that initially to help with people's interpretations but forgot to.

Sorry about your truck, when I was giving you my repair and and replace estimate I was doing the best I could to try and salvage it for you. Oh well, win some, lose some. Again, glad you are okay. Keep us posted!🙂🤘

No biggie. Folks are able to see your location in your profile (appears to be out of date) unless they have Members Profiles Minimized but often don’t make the connection right away. It only becomes important when dollar figures are being thrown around.

Sorry about your truck, glad you seem to be uninjured.

The impact pushed the box into the driver's side c pillar and dented the hell out of it. What are your thoughts?

Someone bumped into me and broke the taillight and a little dent under it and it was $5500

You should come out of it OK financially. US insurance pays fair market value for a totaled vehicle. This is very close to a dealer's price for a similar vehicle. Your insurance is likely subrogating (passing on) the expense to the other driver's insurance. So don't be afraid to negotiate the settlement. Include the cost of the topper and roof rack and any other accessories to give your FMV a boost.
....might not hurt to state you will hold off signing a release until you have a final visit to your doctor. A little saber rattling can help.

Any frame damage? How about air bag deployment? What does it look like after the tailgate? Replace the C pillar do not allow them to straighten. It has been compromised. Insurance company will pressure you to take it to a place that will straighten. Do not go that route. It's not safe! Depending on the miles, this truck still retails for 25 to 30K. Paint is g-1 black. It's easily matched and relatively cheap. But, I think, it will be about 25 K repair if no air bag deployment or frame damage with c pillar REPLACEMENT. Glad you were able to walk away.
