No, this thread poll is purely about gauging want for it. It has nothing to do with why, or to provide a place for those who don't want one to come and insult those who do.
No, you guys are 100% correct. The point here is to see how many people would be wanting an extended range fuel tank. But the same way there is a “NO” option, you can expect people to lay out their reason as to why they would not want one.

If I was the possible developer of this larger tank, I would also take the negatives into account when developing the larger tank. Maybe the No’s are the price point, tank size, modification to get it work, etc. So I’m not just trying to sell it to the Yes folk, but I’m also looking at what cna be done to turn that No into a Yes.

As has been said before, just because everyone has said yes doesn’t mean that everyone will be buying one. The manufacturer will know this and will need to really consider the plus side with developing this tank.

Sure, but there is multiple threads about over-sized tanks, one which lead directly to this poll. The majority of conversation should be there, and this should be mostly the poll.

Regardless of yes or no, we shouldn't be disparaging the opposition, or projecting our wants and needs on everyone else.

The developer, is also likely aware that 100 yes vote, will probably equate to maybe 20-30 actual sales.

I hope to do some longer road trips out west in the coming years so I’d be interested. 25 gallons would prob be solidly in the 500 mile range. I don’t stop, just piss in a bottle, a trick I learned hanging out in tents in the mountains haha.

Id like a 25 or so gallon tank. My weekly commute doesn't leave much wiggle room on the needle. I imagine it will be much worse this winter while using remote start. Something sub 1k would guarantee my purchase!

Whether people want it or not, that is the point of this thread/poll. It’s not just a yes and no, but as to why yes and no. I’m just as interested to hear why people don’t want it as much as the people that do.

In the future I would like to do more overland trips that really take me away from things. A slightly larger fuel tank would come in handy. Sure, so would a couple Rotopax or jerry cans, but I’m trying to utilize as much space I can in the bed as is for other stuff. The larger tank would help in that regard.
Someone posted a company once that had fuel cans that would mount where the spare tire was. I think each cylinder was about 3-4 gallons and you could run two down there but they were EXPENSIVE and also would be a pain to use on the regular since it is in the spare tire location. More like emergency use rather than planned use.

Here is my take $500-1500 or more for bigger tank it should have come with with tow package Is not happening.

After using crappy plastic can I got this for my 5 gallon extra and emergency fuel range. It fits in plastic milk crate to strap down to middle bed tie downs I added . The 1 in fill spout model fits our Rangers and will drain 5 gal in one minute 20 seconds. I feel
safer with this can after hours of research on gas cans.
Of course you could use 5 gal Jerry can and mount like jeeps use also. The U Tube review of Justine pouring was deciding factor.

Lots of parts fit multiple generations. The 6G Ranger looks to be of similar size and proportion to 5G, it's very possible they have the same or similar fuel tank mounting consideration.

And just where are you stealing a milk crate from?

Huh? Where now?

Just saying: what if the 6G is the same “bed”, same fuel tank, and also offers a larger fuel tank. The R&D would be done and it could possibly be retro-fitted into a 5G.

second thought: out of all of those F-150’s in the country, how many do you reckon actually installed a larger after market tank? Those manufacturers would have better data, but I imagine our 300k of 5g’s (minus Frenchy’s and a few others who’ve been totaled), don’t amount to much. The odds are better if the 6G is compatible, and I wouldn’t expect to see anyone bite on development until we know.

That aside, I’m planning to use this truck to tow across the country. But I’m sure my kids bladders won’t out last any size fuel tank, small or large. Still, I’m curious to see where this goes.

A 25 gallon tank would be sweet for towing. The 18 gallon tank is fine for driving around empty but the towing range is way too short. Excited to see where this goes.
Absolutely. Our range when towing is barely 200 miles, and we mostly travel in a region where civilization is sparse and far between.

I have used 5 gal "jerry cans" for a very long time. I currently have 3 I bought from JEG's which are the best Jerry style cans I have ever had (like $60/ea). I use them for extra gas when out in the boon docks, as well as all my garden stuff (ride on, line trimmer, leaf blower, chain saw, etc. etc. etc.).

I won't lie, those Justrite cans look way better. Twice the price, but looking like better value, no gas on the hands, etc.

Thanks for the heads up.

This is it. If you’re just banging around town with no load, the range is fine. Load it up (well under gvw) and use it like a truck and that range goes way down.

Driving from Bozeman to Seattle last summer, pushing a head wind at 75MPH, I was averaging around 12 MPG making for an effective range of around 150 miles.
