This is different - not a problem, but different.

Back story:
I travel about 170 miles (one way) every few weekends to our camp in central Florida (Lake Wales area) from Fort Lauderdale. I take US 27 most of the way. The speed limit ranges from 65 mph to 35 mph going through the small towns. I've been making this trip for many years and certainly since I've had the Ranger. Of course, 170 miles back at the end of the weekend.

Since I've had the truck, I've been averaging between 22 to 28 mpg - on this particular trip. I drive like an old man (see avatar) so I expect good mpg's. The higher mpg's have been more recent since I've been using 93 octane exclusively.

Now:
@32,000 miles. I recently had the bucking at startup when the truck is cold. I took it in for an oil change and mentioned it to my service guy. They applied the TSB and it resolved the bucking. My non-issue is that the last trip produced better mpgs still. I averaged 31.2 mpg on the way home. Remember that as a test, I reset my mpg's when I leave Ft. Lauderdale and leave it until I pull back in my driveway at the end of the weekend, ~340 miles.

Other important information:
93 octane for 10 tanks
mpg's calculated by computer - hand calculated is about .6 mpg less than computer

I believe the wind is a big factor and that trip varies greatly in that regard.

I have a topper but other than cosmetic upgrades, everything else is completely stock.

Again, this is not a bad thing, I just wanted to let you all know what these trucks are capable of doing.

After this story, are any of you experiencing this as well?

Man I wish I got anywhere near that MPG. I can't get past 18 mpg. I use 91. I typically drive 75-80 (If you're not going 80, you're getting ran over) on the highway which is typical speeds here in Vegas, but I don't haul ass on the streets. I drive pretty light around town, especially in the summer months here.

Did 204 miles round trip this weekend from PA to the Jersey shore, averaged 29.3 mpg (per computer). You've got me by a couple MPGs :). Suspect FL is a bit flatter, or at least that's the excuse I'm going with.

You are correct - no excuse. There are several rolling hills but for the most part, mostly flat.

In New England the roads are anything but flat. Best I have been able to do in old man mode is 24.6 mpg. Still not to shabby! Same using 94 gas and have been since I got my first fill up.

I'm still getting around 20-21, but still only have about 1500 miles on it. My driving is mixed between a lot of city and some highway driving at 70+mph. Been running 93 for the last 2 tanks.

Hoping it gets better, but not bad considering.

I get around 21/22 MPG in mixed city/highway driving using 87 octane. Albeit, I am still in the triple digits on the odometer.

I find that the sweet spot for maximum gas milage on the highway is 58 MPH in cruise control and the computer reported 25/26 MPG. (I live in the land of 55 MPH only) That was for an empty load. I had 900 pounds in the bed evenly distributed and only saw a mile or two decrease to 24/25 MPG at 58 MPH on cruise control.

My terrain is not flat nor is it mountainous unless you are driving out of one our famous New York State craters they call a pothole.

I've got 5300 mi on my 2021 STX Scab 4x4, and iv'e never reset the Fuel Economy section of the Driver Information Display. I reset Trip 1 each tank, Trip 2 on actual trips. My last trip was 426 miles on 25-55mph secondary roads with my ~500lbs of motorcycle and camping gear on board: 23.7mpg, Lifetime since May 2021: 24.4mpg. all off the onboard DID, close enough.

74 mph min when on the highway here in Vegas. 75 mile round trip every time I go to work. FX4 Average about 70% highway. Slider on app is not worth the hassle to get the % highway use correct.

Just dropped off truck at dealer this morning for leaky rear axle seal, who knows maybe diff lube is empty.
