This is different - not a problem, but different.
Back story:
I travel about 170 miles (one way) every few weekends to our camp in central Florida (Lake Wales area) from Fort Lauderdale. I take US 27 most of the way. The speed limit ranges from 65 mph to 35 mph going through the small towns. I've been making this trip for many years and certainly since I've had the Ranger. Of course, 170 miles back at the end of the weekend.
Since I've had the truck, I've been averaging between 22 to 28 mpg - on this particular trip. I drive like an old man (see avatar) so I expect good mpg's. The higher mpg's have been more recent since I've been using 93 octane exclusively.
Now:
@32,000 miles. I recently had the bucking at startup when the truck is cold. I took it in for an oil change and mentioned it to my service guy. They applied the TSB and it resolved the bucking. My non-issue is that the last trip produced better mpgs still. I averaged 31.2 mpg on the way home. Remember that as a test, I reset my mpg's when I leave Ft. Lauderdale and leave it until I pull back in my driveway at the end of the weekend, ~340 miles.
Other important information:
93 octane for 10 tanks
mpg's calculated by computer - hand calculated is about .6 mpg less than computer
I believe the wind is a big factor and that trip varies greatly in that regard.
I have a topper but other than cosmetic upgrades, everything else is completely stock.
Again, this is not a bad thing, I just wanted to let you all know what these trucks are capable of doing.
After this story, are any of you experiencing this as well?
