Not a perfect match for your situation, but as a data point:
2019 scab xlt fx4, rears replaced with Eibachs, 1,549 lbs max per door sticker
Empty bed other than tonneau and bed mat (~100 lbs): 38” to top off wheel well
With just over 1,000 lbs total in bed: 36.25”
At max: 35.5”
I haven't gotten around to installing my Eibach coilovers yet, but my truck with stock front suspension is at (or just under) 0.5" lower on driver side vs passenger.
It seems obvious when you think about it, but what's often not taken into account when it comes to payload is that the truck doesn't know the difference between pounds of sand you've dumped in the bed vs pounds from mods you've added/yourself/your spouse/your kids/your dog/your full Big Gulp...
I believe they use the same, but would be interested if anyone knows for certain. I bought the Wolf Haus v5 just to be safe so I could tie bed lights in, regardless of whether I go with Ford or someone else.
Did 204 miles round trip this weekend from PA to the Jersey shore, averaged 29.3 mpg (per computer). You've got me by a couple MPGs :). Suspect FL is a bit flatter, or at least that's the excuse I'm going with.
@FoD very much agree I won't be able to tell the difference between the minor height adjustments - the 0.75" notches on the shocks is plenty fine for me. I feel confident installing coilovers based upon the videos I've watched, so the question is swapping springs. If I end up taking it to the...
Fair enough, I should probably take the same approach and have someone else install :) Good to hear you've been happy with them.
Thanks, I suspect so as well, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out.
Video I found from Eibach discussing the differences:
They mostly focus on the...
I've not tried, but if your goals are larger/skinnier/light(ish), 255/75-17 is worth a look as well. It's my understanding this will fit a stock truck, and both Cooper AT3 4s and Goodyear Duratracs are available - and even lighter than the Wildpeaks in 245.
Thanks, yes, those were the front shocks I was considering (along with OEM springs). Just wondering what I might be missing out on vs going with the coilovers at the same height.
Did you install yourself? If so, any issues swapping parts over from the stock shocks?
Just swapped the rear shocks on my FX4 to Eibachs. I'm considering upgrading the fronts as well, but NOT interesting in leveling - would prefer to stay at stock or maybe up 0.75". The vast majority of my driving is on road.
Is there much of a benefit to going with coilovers in this scenario...
Just the nature of people wanting to believe the decision they made was the “right” decision.
Every group has these folks. The Jeep crew has the whole “it’s a Jeep thing, you wouldn’t understand!” Toyota fanboys talk about a reliability advantage that may or may not still exist.
There are a...
I was in a similar situation a few months back. Took mine in for an oil change when the Ford app told me it was time, which was about the one year mark. Paid with Ford Pass points so nothing out of pocket, and it let me reset the clock so the rest of my points don't expire.
I have it on my XLT (comes with 302a package as mentioned above), but I wish I didn't. I don't see myself ever opening it, and the frame is thick and obstructs some of the view in the rearview mirror.
Case in point - I was coming from an S2000, and didn't like the BMW drove! That doesn't mean either of us is wrong, and there are a lot more people out there who agree with you than agree with me. Mine was an '04 330i ZHP.
I'm 100% with you on cost of ownership. I did not enjoy holding my...
Fair enough. I don't disagree with you about the arm rest...could certainly be better. Beyond that, I also think it's silly that my FX4 shocks are crap when a set of Bilsteins or Eibachs from the factory would have added minimal cost, and I'd have been happy to pay a few bucks more for my...
Not trying to be a smartass, but....have you considered that maybe you bought the wrong truck? Happens to the best of us; I've bought vehicles in the past that I regretted. Feels like you can't swing a dead cat around here without running into a post on something you hate about your Tremor...
