Hi Phil, that 4 liter was a thirsty bitch. good motor though. never had an issue with the 2 i owned
Agreed, it was a strong engine. I had a problem with the valve cover gaskets leaking. One was simple to replace, but the other one was awful... I was going to rebuild it, if I kept it, but watched some videos on how difficult setting the timing was, because of the shaft that went to the back of the engine... I looked and looked for a regular cab 2wd in good shape, as I always wanted to do a Mustang 5.0 swap, but never found one...Hi Phil,
4.0L turned out to be a very robust motor....It had its teething problems in the development phase but Engine Engineering delivered in the end... Not particularly fuel efficient though.....
Best,
Phil
Letting mine go was the toughest part of getting my new Ranger, and mine wasn't nearly as spiffy-looking as yours. I had a 2003 base XL that I bought brand new, and was still pretty much stock when I traded it in Jan 2020. Just realized that it was pretty much immediately after I got rid of it that the world kind of fell apart, so perhaps I'm to blame for all the excitement of the past 2+ years. Sorry.I was digging around. And found a couple pics of my 2007 Ranger. That hurt letting that go!

yesis that a sleeper from a truck on the trailer ??
I just looked up the specs. Taking the '97 F-150 that Dave said he owned, it would depend on which configuration you are comparing against. If you do a true apples-to-apples comparison and compare extended cab short beds. The current Ranger sits near the middle of the previous gen Ranger and the '97 F-150. It is actually closer in size to the OP's 2007 Ranger extended cab short bed than a '97 F-150 extended cab short bed. Edmunds has the specs.Shes a beauty, its insane to look at how small trucks were our rangers are the size of old f150's and the rangers are the size of mavericks lol and new 150's are as big as old superduties
Nice Ranger!I was digging around. And found a couple pics of my 2007 Ranger. That hurt letting that go!

I had a 2000 Mazda B-3000 (the Mazda variant of the Ranger). I wish I had got the 4.0L. The 3.0L v6 was grossly under-powered, got lousy fuel economy and ran like crap on the blended fuel in Arizona.Hi Phil,
