I've always been a dirtbike guy. I started riding out in our local deserts on a Honda 50cc mini bike in the early 70s when I was 7 or 8. I graduated up to an XR75 and then a bit later to a much faster Yamaha YZ80. In my early 20s, I bought a Honda XR200 to mess around with. It was too slow and not meant for hard riding, but it was fun nonetheless. I was working too much for serious riding.

It got much more serious in the 90s for me. I bought a 91 Yamaha YZ250 to ride and occasionally race. I really liked high-speed riding in the desert. I switched from that to a 97 KTM300 MXC and had a blast.

I then lost my marbles and agreed to a three-man race team for the SCORE Baja races in the over 30 class. We raced a 96 KTM360. The first race was the Baja 1000 - took 2nd. We eventually raced all three. The 1000, 500, and San Felipe 250. It was a blast, but expensive and time consuming.

No pics since it was before the digital age :p . I have a few hanging on my office walls though.

Yep, on my VTX I was headed to work, knew I was low but reserve was good for 50 miles, started missing 20 miles from work, reached down to switch to reserve, and $hit! I was already on reserve, forgot to switch back after last time I used it and refilled, no wonder I was getting such great range on the tank. Lucky I was right at an exit, costed off the ramp right into a station :)
now that is lucky!

Sold my grom last year, but bought a 2000 suzuki savage a month or so ago.

Slapped some mini apes on it, currently prepping to paint the thing a gold flake base with brown candy over the top, gonna put on a big ol harley sissy bar on it, and a mega obnoxious upsewpt pipe with a cocktail shaker muffler. Would like to find some shocks an inch shorter too.

Also need to address the infamous savage leak head plug leak and get an aftermarket timing chain tensioner.
going old school style ey?

I have been riding since 1962, my 1st bike a Hodaka Ace 90, and my current is a 2013 Honda F6B 1800. I have had almost every bike you can name (well, almost), from an Aerial Square Four to Harley's, BMW, BSA, Kawa 1200, plus assorted dirt bikes. I loved my VTX 1300 but for all around speed, comfort, cornering ability, and fun, my F6B is my favorite.

Hodaka Ace 90 (stock photo but mine was the same)

My Honda VTX, with tons of mods and new paint, on the road to Sturgis.

And my F6B, on the way to the East Coast with friends.

I had a 1977 Honda 750/4 K1 in Germany and put 100K on it riding all over Europe for 9 years.
I put 125K on my VTX in 10 years then bought the 2013 F6B, which I still have.
those are some big bikes! makes mine look like a toy haha

Well, I needed something the would be good to ride for long trips. I rode coast to coast twice, all over the southwest, as well as 2 trips to Rocky Point Mexico for the 'Sturgis without rules' bike rally. Rode all the way across Canada as well. Got my "Ironbutt " patch for riding 1080 miles in 18 hours back from Rocky Point to the house.

I really like 70s bikes, and I really like big singles.. so.. it's gotta be done. I'm sure it'll draw some hate but whatever ?‍♀

I remember when those came out one of the bike magazines called it "half a Harley" since it had a large displacement single engine with belt drive. It was about half the displacement of a big twin HD.

About half the displacement, about half the power.

200 lbs lighter than an 80s sportster 1200 though.. and relatively easy to increase horsepower by almost 20hp.

Almost as fun as a grom

Not going to list all the bikes I've owned, that would take all day. Just the most recent. Triumph Thruxton R cafe racer followed the Ranger home on the bike trailer last month. It's part of Triumph's "modern classics" lineup. Looks 1969, but performs a little bit more like a sport bike. It's a liquid cooled 1200 cc with relatively high compression and good hp. Fully adjustable Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes, ABS and full traction control - which keeps the front wheel on the ground in 1st and 2nd gear under acceleration... Unless I turn it off. ?
